I would swim for a stroke or two then get kicked or hit in the face.  Between the 1st and 2nd bouye I got hit in the nose which caused me to swallow a bunch of water.  I started to panic but I then I stopped and caught my breath so that I could re-group & relax.  I told myself to just get on the outside and finish the swim.  All in all I had a great time.

I'm with you there. I felt like tenderized meat at the start and had to move off to the side and recollect myself. OWS is a different beast and I had to take it slow and just work on finishing rather than keeping up with the pack. It was a great challenge though and makes you want to do it again! BTW, the wetsuit I ordered 2 1/2 weeks ago for Saturday's sprint came in yesterday. Great timing! Oh well, I have it for the next one!

I think the roads in Irving (race location) are generally worse than most other cities. Something about that place is pretty bad and results in lots of cracks and holes. But overall super smooth roads aren't always the most common. The ground moves a lot in TX and this results in lots of cracks and holes.

Glad you enjoyed the race despite low volunteer turnout this year compared to last. Things definitely ran smoother on Sunday than Saturday so be glad you were doin the Oly or HIM.

I thought the swim was short also. We were talking with Brandon March(overall winner) and he said it was short by probably 150m.

Does anyone else think the swim was short?  At least for the HIM?

I'm glad I traveled to TX for this race.  I needed it.  The roads were really rough...is it like that everywhere you all ride in TX?

I did the oly but based on the length my garmin showed for the 2 times I swam the supposed 1640 yds and it measured 1740's and the fact that the HIM should have been 2112.  That leaves a difference of approx 375yds betwen the oly and HIM turns.  I looked at the difference on sat and it was maybe 100 yds each way so 200 yds.  I think the HIM was about 200yds short, but that is just my opinion.

Roads in texas can be rough but usually more of a result of chipseal which I really don't remember seeing.  I did not think the roads were that bad but maybe it was because of the wind I was battling.

I only see an option to receive an email when they are ready.  Am I missing something?

I think the camera dude had a man-crush on me.  I am in no less than 24 pictures.  Good thing too, I managed to find 3 that won't break a frame, being the unphotogenic stud I am.
