What are the best valve extensions to use with 404’s and 808’s I searched and read a bunch of stuff, including that some don’t fit. Please offer me some advice as to what I should use. Also zipp recommends only zipp extensions, is this B.S. or should i stick with that?

Thanks

Last October, the day before my last tri of the season, I was having problems with my 404 front Zipp valve extension. I got so frustrated with it that I replaced the tube with one made by a compnay called Vredestein. The Vredestein tube had an extended valve on it so there was no need for an extension. I plan on changing out the rear 808 Zipp to a Vredestein tube as well. Not sure if the valve will be long enough for the 808, but I understand that the company makes longer ones if needed. I have more peace of mind now that I don't use extensions. Tube for 404 is a "S60."

I use these for my FP 60s They work well but my pump does not fit them real well. I am going to change my tubes out for 80mm stems just to be safe.

The Zipp extensions really suck.  Go for valve extenders that work with tubes with removable cores.  There are tubes with up to 80 mm valves so you can get tubes that will work for the 404s with no extenders and then get the right combo of valve length and valve extender for the 808s.

Tube example - My LBS carried Michelin tubes with a full range of lengths all with removable cores which I like better than these.  These are pretty thick tubes and I prefer thinner.
