OK, not to start a TMI post, but today was my first 100 miler.  Felt god but I finished really bloated.  At first I thought it was fluid, but I really think it is gas (this the TMI )

My nutrition was Infinit - 3 2.5 hr bottles which I was right on with

GU on the bottom of the hour and some type of solid food on the top.  Solid food was either 1/2 a pb Powerbar, fig newtons or sportbeans.

Has anyone else encountered this?  I now figure that gasX will be in my bento box but I would like to avoid the problem all together.

I have had this in races and found that I am going to hard and not absorbing the fluids. This is bad news for endurance people. I cut my intensity way back to low aerobic pace till I start to feel like the fluids are going thru me. If you don't it will be even worse when the sloshing starts on the run!
Not really an answer but that is what I do.

For me, it's grapes. Somehow, those are absolutely killer! I'll cramp up really bad.
Not sure if you're typically using this nutrition regimen, but this is part of finding "what works for you". I like Accelerade b/c I don't get the gas and bloating. Gatorade though......... Power Bar gives me heartburn, Clif, not as much. Again, find what works for you.

I tend to have lots of gas when I run after long rides..it comes out though

My coach told me (yah fun stuff to discuss) that consuming all that sugar on the bike effects your gut/digestion system to some degree and one of the typical outcomes is lots of gas.

Was your HR in your aerobic zone the whole ride?

You may want to ask Infinit about it as they are super good at helping adjust formulas for athletes.

definitely check your total intake of carbs.

I had identical problems with long bike rides > 3 hours when drinking Accelerade and then adding gel packs and protein bars - would feel fine after finishing, but then for the next several hours was suffering... At first thought maybe it was the whey protein in the Accelerade and any possible lactose intolerance so switched to Amino Vital - and at the same time paid closer attention to the number of carbs per hour. Those adjustments worked great for for IMFL last year. Have since used Accelerade minus the added carbs from gels or Powerbars without any problems.

are you following the sips of concentrated Infinit directly with plain water?
