I just downloaded the 12 week training plan. This will be my first tri!( Lake Logan in August) Has anyone completed this plan or working on it? I have lots of questions and could use any and all advise!!!!! Does it matter what order you do the back to backs. Swim then bike??? I also havent enlisted a coach to help me with the swimming. I can swim but I dont really have any of the proper form etc. Should I just jump in the water and go for or wait till I get some help! I am so anxious to get started. Also are any of you all out there from the fayetteville area???

Hey congrats on your first tri, and Oly distance at that! I waited till my 2nd season for that Did you download the "silver" 12 week plan? I just did the same. As for swimming, for my first tri, I just jumped in the pool and had at it. I will say last year -- 2nd season -- I did take swim lessons from a gal who worked with lots of triathletes.

as for back to backs, I try to do them the order they're done in the race, so I'll swim, then bike. Or bike then run.

Good luck!

I dont silver plan its just the reg. one. Do you know how much of a diff. there is? I was wondering if a Olympic will be to much. But I couldnt really pass up the chance to do my first tri in my home town...(well about 10 minutes away) Hopefully I can make it!

thanks for the advise and the encouragemnt. let me know how the training plan is going for you. I am set to start training in the morning but was planning to flip biking and then swimming cause it will be all inside. ( I think it will be easier to jump of the bike and hit the pool. But then again I am pretty much going at this blind...hahaha!

Whenever you see a day with 2 workouts, try to get at least a few hours and a small meal in between training sessions. The order doesn't matter, whatever works for your schedule is fine. The only 'back to back' workouts or 'bricks' are in the final few weeks of the plan and those are clearly marked as being bricks.

Just about any advice or help you can get on the swim from someone who knows what they're doing will be helpful. The most common advice is to join a Masters group. Most YMCAs also have a 'Fitness Swim' class at least weekly. Good luck!

Marmadaddy...That is the first time I've read good advice from a man in a robe.  Dare I ask about your avatar?  (Ha ha.)

To the above posters, this is a great plan.  I used it for my first Mooseman.  My advice is to review the plan and make sure you tweak it for your particular race.  In my case, I added a few extra bike/run hill workouts.

I've done Lake Logan the last 2 years and will be there this year. It's a great race at a great location put on by the best race company in the southeast. So I guess I'm trying to say that you're picked a good one.

I can't comment on the plan having never looked at it, but I'm sure you'll be fine.
