Comments: I started and passed a few females..I noticed for about 5 seconds I was the front female, but then got passed...I was never able to catch up with the lead female...finished 2nd. Set a new PR - beat the PR I set last month by 1:03. Garmin confirmed it really was 3.1 miles as well. What would you do differently?: I ran as well as I could...my training had been pretty bad the past two weeks, so I actually did better than I thought I would! Post race
Warm down: Walked back on the course, and looked for my friend Kari who was running her first 5k...I found her, and jogged back in with her...her fiance did the same thing, so it was the three of us. I found the lead female and we chatted...of course it got to triathlon talk, and she told me she had considering doing triathlons, so I gave her my contact information. What limited your ability to perform faster: Probably my poor training these past two weeks...but I did set a PR, so I am not complaining too much. Event comments: The LRC did a great job - lots of door prizes, even though I didn't win one. I will say I am glad I went. Lots of family issues these past two weeks, and so my training was cut down to probably 25% of what it should have been, and I almost didn't go. I thought it would be a good mental break, even though I didn't think I would do well overall in the race. When I got there, I told myself to block out everything going on, and just run a good race...if for nothing else, just do it for me.... 1st AG - 30/34 2nd overall female out of 61 24th overall finisher out of 135 Last updated: 2008-01-13 12:00 AM

Checked in about 8am. I was shocked to see there were 135 runners...this is a lot of participants for a Longview Running Club Event. I also saw a LOT of volunteers, which made me smile. This run was actually a fundraiser/memorial for a man that was a running club member and got killed last year...the fees were going to his children's education funds. I always love to see people volunteering for a good cause.
Jogged around the track two times - chatted with friends. I found Leslie (president of the running club and a good friend) and she told me she wasn't running...and to take advantage of it. She wasn't boasting, but she is in my AG, and always wins first...my only chance to ever get it is if she does not race, or if she gets overall winner. I told her I hadn't been training well, but I would try!
