Pre-race routine:

Packet pick up and drove the course. Ate some PB on wheat bread, banana and drank some gatorade.
Event warmup:

Not much, stretching and keeping warm. Ran a few hundred meters.

Comments:

Contemplated between shorts and tights, I'm glad I opted for tights.I got a little warm but I heard guys complaining about tight legs because of their shorts.

I was pushing hard the whole way, I left everything out on the course this race. I couldn't have gone faster if I wanted to. I almost ran down the second place finisher, but ran out of race course!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I'm happy with my performance. I registered for this race on a whim and used it as a hard training day and to get some competition in during the cold and lonely winter training.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around a bit, saw the family. Headed inside for heat and dry clothes, did a good amount of stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough hilly training runs, and this wasnt a race I was gearing up for!

Event comments:

I'd do it again!! No complaints at all.

Congratulations on a great race!  Nice job considering you entered on a "whim". Good choice to go with the tights; the sun was nice, but that wind was pretty cold. Pretty cool that you got to visit with family, do so well in a great race, and get in a little bit of hill training.
