Precipitation
Total Time = 37m
Overall Rank = 3/98
Age Group = 21-29
Age Group Rank = 2/07
Pre-race routine:

Just like always I got plenty early. Tori went with me and it takes her forever to get ready so we were up early. Had to drop the little one of at Grandma & Pa's on our way out of town.
Event warmup:

Swam 100 yards to get loose. I don't usually warm up much but I figured I should today.
Swim
  • 07m 32s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim was about as good as I expected. Actually time was a little faster than I anticipated! Felt good the whole way except for the last 100. Could tell then that I haven't been swimming.
Came out of the water second in my heat and the first person was out about 15 yrds ahead of me. So I easily beat him to the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Swim more! Push harder in the water. I think I get complacent in the water and don't try to push the pace. This will change next Tri.
Transition 1
  • 01m 32s
Comments:

Slow T1! Time is a guess as I can't remember exactly! If I could run sans socks it would make this much easier!
Bike
  • 16m 51s
  • 6 miles
  • 21.36 mile/hr
Comments:

I'm a slow arse on the bike! This will improve when the weather warms up some! I can usually make it through the bike with out thinking about how bad I'm hurting. I started thinking about it about half-way this time! I think that had something to do with my cycling performance. My mind plays a huge role in how I perform. Bad thoughts = Bad performance!
Transition 2
  • 00m 11s
Comments:

Again a guess as I can't remember exactly. I know it was around this.
Run
  • 11m 1s
  • 2 miles
  • 05m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

Again I proved Nobody can run with me! I love getting off of the bike knowing I will kill the run. This wasn't my best run in a tri either. I love running! I think I drank a little bit too much Nuun during the bike. I felt it for about the first half mile or so! I finally got the excess gas to expell itself.
What would you do differently?:

Drink less on the bike
Post race
Warm down:

Um No Thanks!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of swim training! Testicular Fortitude!

Event comments:

I love these races. They are so much fun! The best thing about this race was when I was talking to one of the guys that beat me and he said he had been training "A Bunch". I haven't, so when it comes time to race at the ones that matter I WILL whip his you know what! Sorry man but I must do it!

Sounds like a fun early season race. You smoked it on the run as usual! Nice work
