Subject: Sunday Team Evergreen Ride

If anyone's interested.  Hope it's warm enough.  Don't need to be a member to ride w/ them.


MARCH 9: Moderate/Difficult
Genesee/Morrison Loop. Option: Lariat Loop

PDF MAP

Meet at the Genesee Park Park & Ride for a 10:30 am departure.

Genesee Exit to Highway 40, Colo. 26, Morrison, Rooney Rd., Highway 40, Heritage Square, I-70 interchange, Highway 40 frontage Rd., Genesee Exit. Option: Rooney Rd., Highway 40, Highway 93, Jeffco Pkway, Bike Path, 19th St., Lariat Loop Rd., Lookout Mtn. Rd., Highway 40, Genesee Exit.

Follow Highway 40 east 5 miles to the I-70/Morrison exit. Turn right (south) onto Colo. 26 and continue 3 miles into Morrison. Turn left (east) on Colo. 8 and ride ? mile east to Rooney Rd. Turn left (north) onto Rooney Rd. and continue north to Highway 26. Turn left (west) and cross the C-470 overpass on Highway 26 and then turn right (north) back onto Rooney Rd. Follow Rooney Rd. to Highway 40. Turn left (west) and follow Highway 40 west then south past Heritage Square to the I-70 interchange. Turn right (west) at the interchange and continue west 5 miles on Highway 40 back to Genesee Park. Lariat Loop Option: After turning onto Highway 40 from Rooney Rd., turn right (north) onto Highway 93, ? mile before Heritage Square. Follow 93 northeast 1 mile to 6th Ave. Cross 6th Ave. onto the bike path that parallels 6th Avenue and ride north 1 mile to 6th Ave and 19th street. Cross 6th Ave. on 19th St. which becomes Lariat Loop Rd. and ride 5 miles to Buffalo Bill’s Grave. The Lariat Loop Rd. continues on as the Lookout Mtn. Rd. Follow LOM Rd. 3 miles back to the intersection with Highway 40 at the LOM rescue station. Turn right (west) on Highway 40 to the Genesee Exit.

Round trip: 22 miles 2,400 ft. elevation gain. w/Option: 28 miles 3,300 ft. elevation gain.

After last Saturday I have high weather expectations -- it doesn't look like they'll be met, tho.  I'll be wearing lots of layers Sunday

If you want a map of the ride go to teamevergreen.org , ride calendar, and way at the bottom of the page is a link to a map of the ride.  The ride doesn't look too bad at all.  They completely changed their website recently....

Op!  We're going skiing tomorrow now.  Have fun if you go on the ride!!  Maybe we can get Trixie out there next weekend.

Next weekend's ride, Sunday 3/16.  This is a nice ride.  Ted and I did the first half today. 

Tour of Evergreen

Meet at the Evergreen Lake House parking lot.

Evergreen Lake House, Upper Bear Creek Dr., Witter Gulch Rd., Stagecoach Blvd., Highway 74, to Bergen Park, Highway 65 through Soda Creek, El Rancho via Highway 40, Bergen Park and back to the Evergreen Lake House parking lot via Highway 74.

From the Evergreen Lake House ride out to Upper Bear Creek Rd.  Turn left (west) onto Upper Bear Creek Rd. and ride past the golf course, then continue for 4 miles to Witter Gulch Rd.  Turn right (north) on Witter Gulch Rd. and continue 1.5 miles to Stagecoach Blvd.  Turn right (southeast) on Stagecoach Blvd. and ride through hilly terrain 5 miles to Highway 74.  Turn left on Highway 74 and ride uphill 3 miles to Bergen Park.  At the Bergen Park Park and Ride turn left (west) onto Colo. 65 and ride 1/3 mile to the Soda Creek east entrance.  Turn left (southwest) onto Woodland Dr.  Ride 1/10 mile and turn left (southwest) onto Meadow Mtn. Rd.  Follow Meadow Mtn. Rd. 1.5 miles as it winds through Soda Creek.  When Meadow Mtn. Rd. dead ends into Woodland Dr., turn left (west) onto Soda Creek Dr. and continue 1.5 miles to Colo. 65.  Cross Colo. 65 onto Meadow Vista Dr. then Alta Vista Dr. and ride 2 miles back to Colo. 65.  Turn right (north) onto Colo. 65 and continue to the intersection with Highway 40.  Turn right (east) on Highway 40 and ride 4 miles to El Rancho.  Turn right (southwest) onto Highway 74 and ride back to the Evergreen Lake House parking lot.

Round trip: 31 miles 3,200 ft. elevation gain.
