Anyone planning on Not wearing a wetsuit?

I'm debating if I should be cheap and give up some seconds or go buy a wetsuit this week. :\

The water is 64 right now. I've looked at the 10 day forecast, and it actually seems like the temps will be cooler than normal in Galveston, so the water may not reach 70. That may play a factor in your decision....

It's hard to say what the water temps will be, but I think they'll be considerably cooler than last year. The water was 74 last year. It could be 68-69 this year, depending on how things play out the next couple of weeks.

I did not wear a wetsuit last year, and I tolerate cold pretty well.  But I'm thinking I'll be wearing a wetsuit this year.  I took a look at the water temps in the area online last week and it was looking COLD! Then there's Keith's post above.  Maybe you could borrow a wetsuit? Maybe someone who is doing the sprint can hand one off to you after their race on Saturday?

I posted a thread, but figured I'd be better off putting it where people are actually looking when it comes to Lone Star...looking to see who is interested in Dinner Sat. night.  All of the pasta/Italian type places there on the island are either pizza or in the more $$ range.  That being said, looking to see who has interest in getting tickets for festival's Luau Dinner on Sat. night.  Looking to see if we can get a BT group. Keith has said he'll save us tables if I can send him numbers.  I can get there a little early, and I can bring name tags/sharpies so we can Identify each other (unless we all buy BT tattoos and put them on our heads )...so, if you're interested, let me know and I'll try to spear head somethign here.

Ref: the other posts on wetsuit--I just got my "wetzoot" in and will be swimming in it all week--indoor and outdoor--to get used to it...definitely glad with seeing what the water temps will be.

I'd be down for a dinner if we get one together.

Yea I'll stop by tri on the run and see what they have in stock.. depending on that, I'll get one. I just barely missed an opportunity to get a zoot suit for 20% under cost.. dang. :\

From the Lonestar website (didn't think Keith would mind):
(I'll start a list of everyone and post it every couple of days...just make sure to buy your own tickets on the site.)

Carbo Loading, tropics-style. On SATURDAY evening, March 29, chill out, relax and grab a great meal under the palm trees and stars, on the white sands of Moody Gardens’ Palm Beach. Overlooking Offat’s bayou, tiki torches will be a blazin’, music will be playing… a great way to spend the evening before the big day, for kids and adults. While you’re eating, kiddos can play on the beach!A great dinner will be served, with pasta, marinara and alfredo sauce, chicken and shrimp, freshly baked garlic bread, fresh mixed green salad, Caesar salad, marinated cucumber and tomato salad, chef’s miniature desserts, coffee and iced tea.

Dinners are $25.00 per person, $20.00 for kids 4-11. Dinner will be served from 5:30 - 7:30pm on Saturday evening, March 29. Admission is limited, and tickets must be pre-ordered online at the race registration link. If you’ve already registered, you may order tickets on the “Xtras” link.

I would like to meet everyone from BT.  I know a couple folk from Louisiana, but would like to meet more folk.

How do we "meet"?  Do we have a secret spot or hand shake?

I am looking forward to meeting you guys.

Chris

Chris, if you want to come to dinner, just get the tickets for it, and go to the Luau that night and let me know you're coming. I will have nametags for those BT'ers coming so we can all spot each other...maybe I'll make some easy to notice BT symbol on it or something--but I am EASY to spot. Despite being short at 5'3" I have natural bright red hair--so look for the short red head with freckles. I'll make sure I don't wear a hat that evening so I can be a blinking light for everyone.  The RD has said if I get him #'s he'll reserve us tables so we can all sit together.

Other than the dinner, well, look for some with the BT tri tops and shorts...some may get the BT temp tattoos to put on...

Current list for Carbo Load Luau at Moody Gardens on Sat Night for Lonestar (will update as more people say)--please let me know if there are more than just you with your group or let me know if I've counted you and shouldn't.  Keith has asked for the list as soon as possible, so I'd like to send him #'s NLT Sat. night of this week (22nd)
I'll post this in the other thread too so the Sprint/HIM folks jump in too!

Gettin' close....I'm keeping a close eye on the weather forecasts.  So far, so good! Last I saw was a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon/evening, but the morning would be overcast and a high of 78.  Works for me!

It's Galveston...if there isn't wind we really luck out!  Glad to see I'm not the only one itching for this weekend!  Really looking forward to meeting many of y'all at the dinner and the race.  It's going to be a great event!
