Let's use this thread to plan practice rides on the race course. Feel free to join in with another poster's plans, or post your own plans.

Tom and I looked at our calendars and wanted to go ahead and plan for (at least) two weekends to ride the course. Tentatively, they are:

Saturday, April 12
2.5 hour ride
30 minute run

Saturday, May 31
3 hour ride
20 minute run

We plan on starting to ride around 8 a.m. both mornings, and also practicing transitions since we'll be riding and running.

I'll keep the thread updated with exact meeting locations, but it will definitely be on the race course.

Reply if you're interested in joining... the more the merrier of course!

DH and I are in town the weekend of 4/12 for a wedding and we wanted to drive the course. While we won't be able to join you on the ride, do you think you could help us with directions to where the heck we're going?

The map at the Ironman KS Website is pretty good, IM Kansas Bike Route

If you google Clinton lake you'll get a pretty good map that should help you get there. If I Remember correctly Bloomington Park is where it will be. Take US 59 south out of Lawrence, GO west in N 1200 RD, South on East 1000 Road, west on N 1000 Rd, south on E 850th, west on N 950th then take a right on 851st diagonal RD... that intersection in the "Cross"

Weather is not looking so good for the April 12 ride
Might possibly move it to Sunday April 13, but just not sure yet.
Will keep this thread updated.

I'll be out on the course with Enduracamps on Saturday morning.

So when you whiz by me going up the hill, feel free to offer some words of encouragement because I am completely flipping out over the bike portion.

I need this to be a confidence booster...not a confidence killer.

Enduracamps is going to be out there again this weekend?

It's part of the 5 day camp that the participants paid for...

But yep. We're scheduled for a supported ride that morning. Not sure if they'll be supporting other riders that are not part of the camp though. But regardless, look for a good group out there!
