Subject: that song in your head...

I'm pretty sure there have been posts about this before but I thought it would be neat to try it daily... get an idea of new songs to put on my/our Ipods...

but anyway...

... on my way to my swim this morning the last song I heard as I got out of the car...

"Fool to Cry" by the Rolling Stones

...and of course I sang that song over and over in my head for 48 minutes while my head was immersed in the water...

I might try to start this thread everyday since tomorrow I know I'll be singing a different song...

On the trainer last night, watching "The In-Laws".  The have KC & the Sunshine band singing "Do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight"  but they don't finish the song.

Guess what's stuck in my head now?  That's right, KC & the Sunshine band.  At least I like the song.

There's a Jars of Clay tune called "Worlds Apart" and the first line is "I am the only one to blame for this...."

Augh! I love that song.

I really like "I Would Walk 500 Miles" by The Proclaimers. Bouncy and happy and energetic.

Swap?

Take a chance, chance Take a chance, chance. I made the mistake of hitting random shuffle on my wife's ipod and ended up singing ABBA for two weeks!

NEVER hit random shuffle on your wife's Ipod! NEVER borrow your wife's Ipod!

Do you guys have similar tastes? My wife and I are total opposites when it comes to music!

I currently have The Killers "When you were Young" stuck in my head.  I was playing Rock Band last night and that was the last song I played.

Something about "polly wolly doodle all the day." :/

Seems like every single toy, tape, or CD my 10mo old daughter has.... plays that damn song.  I'll find myself whistling it without even thinking about it.  It's a far cry from the Rage Against the Machine that I'm used to!

Now I have a bit of all  most of those songs in my head.  The rhythm of kids' songs seems to correspond well with my running pace, unfortunately!

I like Tub Thumping by Chumbawumba (I get knocked down, I get up again...)

Thanks! I HATE that song!!! Now all I can think is the chorus line that goes either "kissing or*issing the night away" over and over and over and over and..........

EDIT - Scratch Tom Petty. Just heard "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley.

Rarely have any song in my head working out.  Usually it is more what's going on in my life and since I don't use an MP3 player during excercise the only time I get songs stuck is when I heard something on the way out the door ..... which is often some sort of kid's show theme or music.

For those instances I just start singing Sublime's 2 Joints and it makes most things go away:

"I smoke 2 joints in the morning, I smoke 2 joints at night, I smoke 2 joints in the afternoon, It makes me feel alright.  I smoke 2 joints in times of peace, and 2 in times of war.  I smoke 2 joints before I smoke 2 joints, and then I smoke 2 more!"

Green Day's "Jesus of Suburbia"

I've got myself singing random lyrics throughout that song without even thinking about it. It's in one of my workout playlists and is usually one of the few that will stay in my head throughout the day. I've had other people ask me who I was talking to or what I was singing sometimes and I wouldn't even know I was doing it.

2 are intermixing..... Michael Buble's "Lost" and Linkin Park's "Shadow of the Day".  Weird combination but that's what's there.

This is exactly why I invested in a swim mp3 player. Now not only do I get to ignore those folks who ask to share a lane, I get some great tunes to swim with (I dont ignore other folks - often). Noting like Mr. K West telling me to make it harder, better, faster, stronger!
