I think my chest hair is enough to keep my shirt away from my nipples. I can run up to three miles with cotton. After that, technical shirts have been enough for me to avoid the problem.

x3

band aids

the water proof/good cloth ones so they won't come off after becoming wet from swim or sweat.

also, make sure the white non-sticky part is on the nipple and not the adhesive part. (ouch)

x12.

Band-Aid clear spots for EVERY run. If I go for even a 5k without, and I'll be chafed. I must be especially sensitive...

I don't even have a problem with the adhesive, and these worked for me up to Ironman distance.

I use the waterproof sport band aids and these things stay on until you literally rip them off. This sounds gross, but I will leave them on for 3-4 days at a time. I assume the shower cleans them as well. If I don't wear them, no matter what else I use, I end up with 2 red streaks leading from each bloodied nipple! OUCH!!!!!!

band=aids

I've had the problem for years.....one time i wore a white shirt to the gym in winter and ran for 70 minutes and they hurt but i didn't realize people were looking at me because my white shirt was covered in blood all around my nipples....kinda funny....a few things.....

1 - band aids don't work if you sweat heavily like me, they usually come right off after 5 mnutes.

2 - wear a top made of some kind of performance material (not cotton)

3 - use a sports glide type product

4 - just get used to it and HTFU, it is a fact of life, even if you do 1-3 it will still hurt sometimes

I can promise you that noone sweats any more than I do, and the sport waterprood band aids will not come off. I guarantee it. The only shirts I wear are the Under Armor performance and technical tees and they still cause bleeding. The sports glide products don't work for me - I just end up with a big ole mess. You get used to it - some parts of us weren't made to be hard!

I don't really see why it is a "fact of life" or we just need to HTFU.   Just get some tape and be done with it.

tape may work for you, i've never tried it and don't plan to, eventually the nipple will HTFU literally!

The tape I linked up there will stay on during a swim. There is no way that waterproof bandaids are a cheaper solution over time that that time. Trust me - get a roll of this. It is like it was specifically made for this purpose. If you are hairy (I am) you can use a small enough piece that it is ONLY only your nipple, not a mm off on to your chest skin where hair grows.

Tech tees aren't necessarily the answer, btw: I wear both cotton and tech tees for various runs and I've almost never gotten chafing with the cotton ones, mostly with a couple of the tech tees (or when I've had another layer on over a cotton tee for warmth). Of course, that's largely because I don't wear cotton tees for anything more than about 8 miles.

Body Glide, on the other hand, has not failed me yet.
