Comments: I just had intentions of just enjoying the day in the park and better my time from last year (6:31). I had no idea that I'd break 6 hours. This was a lot in part to the weather. We started the race at 34 degrees and when I finished it only got up to 48. This was perfect running conditions for me. The last two years I have done this race it was into the 80's before I finished. Loop 1: 1:46 Loop 2: 1:56 Loop 3: 2:06 I didn't get a negative split but I'm very happy with my time. I cut off almost 45 minutes from last year. I feel great afterwards and now I know that I'm ready for Grasslands 50 miler in two weeks. Last year I did that one in 10:08 - I hope to break 10 hours this year. Post race
Warm down: Walked around changed clothes and ate a hamburger they where cooking on-site. My weight was 182 after a shower, so I did really good, only lost 3 lbs and I have been weighing 182 before the hydration, so at least today all of that worked out really well. No cramps, etc..!!!! Woke up at 2:30am, a little earlier than I needed to, but went ahead and got up, ate 2 boils eggs, 4 pieces of toast and some Gatorade.
Starting weight: 185
I did manage to gain 2-3 lbs over the last few days, so it appears that I did hydrade enough at this point, we'll see how things go today. It is 31 degrees out now at 4:00am and is supposed to only get up to 60 with clear sunny skies. Perfect day for a run in the park.
