Overall Rank = 306/370
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 58/64
Pre-race routine:

Whole wheat bagel with peanut butter and some marshmellow creme on the way down. Stopped and picked up some gatorade and a Dr Pepper for later. Couple of rest room stops
Event warmup:

Found Jon, Dia/Ralph and chatted some. Walked down to the start line. Temp was falling and the wind was picking up
Run
  • 2h 10m 9s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt really good thru about mile 9. Took gu's at miles 4, 8, 12 . Drank water at those stops, mostly powerade at the other stops. Water stops were almost exactly every 2 miles. I really like a course with this set up, so you know when to expect a stop
What would you do differently?:

Umm...run faster..most likely with someone else's legs and lungs
Post race
Warm down:

With the wind gusting like crazy, there wasn't any warm down. Picked up a bbq sandwich and a powerade. Hung out and talked to Alyssa for a few then headed home. Cold bath to soothe the legs a little.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Me :)

Event comments:

Despite the ridiculous wind, I still ended up with a new PR by about :40. I had been on pace to go around 2:08 until the last 2 miles and then I blew up. If I'm going to run so much on the treadmill, I need to mix up the incline some. I've also been letting myself cruise at a lower speed than I intend on running these races. I need to step up my training pace.

Performance: Good
I had mile by mile splits on my HRM till I accidentally cleared it. Most of my miles were in the 9:40 range. #3 was about 9:22. 11 & 12 were both 10+ thanks to the 2 straight miles of uphill combined with a vicious headwind
Course: Single loop, pretty freakin' hilly. A lot of the same course from Dowd and Thunder Road

WTG Eric! I ran 10 in the same area yesterday (even crossed the race course a few times on Queens) and it was WINDY!
Great job on the PR...I ran that one last year and it is hilly. Not an easy course.
