Pre-race routine:

2 hours till raace, Ate just a little bit less than normal and drank a bit more than normal. 1.5 hours till race, drove out to the race, 30min drive there. 1 hour till race got tranisition spot and then it was social hour. ;)
Event warmup:

1.2 mile run
Run
  • 11m 37s
  • 2 miles
  • 05m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Went good, I surged at the beginning to try to avoind getting a group around me. Running would be my strong point.. I didn't want to tug people along. A cyclist friend bridges up to me, I asked if he was going to cause any trouble, but he said he wasn't going to. I could tell he was working to stay up with me. He probably helped me keep my pace on the 2nd mile since there wasn't anyone else right there with me.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I wanted to run my 5mile pace on the runs.. and this was pretty much right on.
Transition 1
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

While I have no splits for this.. I'm just guessing. It was a bit longer than last year as this was the biggest yet.. about 180 people or so.
What would you do differently?:

clip in faster. ;)
Bike
  • 30m 40s
  • 12 miles
  • 23.48 mile/hr
Comments:

Dissapointed with this, didn't feel as strong/smooth on the bike as I have the last few weeks. I think if my computer would of worked it would of been better. 7th or 8th overall on the bike leg.
What would you do differently?:

Probably could of pushed a bit more on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

Good tranition.. everything went well.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run

Comments:

Once again.. a bit of a guess on the time.. 11:45-11:55 range. Felt great on the first mile, started to feel it on the last half mile where Ben started to creep back up to me after I passed him. I should of dug more about 800m out, I know I could of as my body wasn't screaming like I've made it before. :) I was hurting though.. no doubt.

55:13.. only 1min and 22seconds off the winner. So I was up there. I'll settle for that. ;)

I wanted to be sub 6s for the race and I'm pretty sure I did that even if my etimate of my 2nd run is off. Ben ran a 12:08ish run and he was further than 8secs ahead of me off the bike I'm pretty sure.
What would you do differently?:

Run harder
Post race
Warm down:

I talked.. should of ran.. but got distracted. Atleast my mouth didn't get tight.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm a weenie, and also my computer on my bike decided not to work at not such a good time.

This is where I really wish I had my splits. Came to this by how much the guy ahead of me beat and and how much I beat the guy behind me, who I had to catch from the run. They have it in the results as 12miles.. but I think it was actually 11.5.. which is a depressing 22.5mph.
Wind: Some
Course: 2 loops course on a feeder of a highway just before Galveston.. and there is always wind here regardless what the rest of the area is. If it's calm at my house it will be 7-12 mph winds here. ;p
