There's not one decent Thai restaurant here in Northern Jersey.
I'd kill for the Shrimp Tom Yum soup, papaya salad and Pad Thai...it's all in the tamarind and lemongrass. OOOOH so yummmy.
Now, I am craving for Thai food.
THANKS!! Thanks a lot!

...it's all in the tamarind and lemongrass.

Are there any ingredients better than tamarind, lemongrass or cilantro?

I grew up on sugary tamarind paste, as well as plain tamarind fruit. My mom bought them at the Chinese markets when we lived in Panama. Now I'm jonesin'...

You are right about tamarind, lemongrass and cilantro.

I love the sugar coated tamarind candy wrapped in amber celo paper...and tamarind straight from the pod. The sweet and sour taste. I guess it is sort of like those sour patch gummy candy.

Is this the wrong time to point out I love that there are (at least) seven Thai restaurants that will DELIVER to my house (not counting the ones that won't)?

Within walking distance of my home, there's Thai, Persian, Mediterranean, Chinese, Japanese, Jamaican, Cuban, Mexican, French, Italian, Indian, German, Polish, missing-a-bunch-ish-ese-an ... the only cuisines I can think of REALLY not in walking distance (although biking is easy) are Ethiopian and Vietnamese--pho.

You also live "In Most Likely To Riot For No Good Reason At The Drop Of A Hat" LA. Undecided

I actually live right at the intersection of Venice, Marina del Rey, and Culver "Cops Shoot First, Ask Later" City. Many of the cops know me because I used to live right next to the Sheriff's station and also had so many moving violations. You can't go anywhere here at any time of day or night without running into one. I heart them.

HAIL yeah. Did you not see German and Polish up there? But surprisingly, there are hella good brats to be found on the Venice boardwalk.

I also left out all the really good more-mainstream or mainstream-style restaurants.

No wonder I'm ... uh ... fluffy.

I love ... FOOD.
