Pre-race routine:

I went up on Friday night and crashed with trigods at fitphd. It was great to catch up. Chris and I went out to eat while we waited on Shannon to fly in then we picked her up chatted a while then crashed. Woke up and started looking at the weather and it was nasty. Storms severe at times all over. I really figured the race would be postponed. We got to the stadium and nope it was still on. Tried to stay warm and dry until we went out to get ready for the run

Comments:

Well this was a most interesting run. of course we started in the rain. So it was not long before I was soaked feet and all. I started out and my HR would not go down. I dont know if it was the weather or what bu any how I was at the BOP as usual but I was doing my own thing and it did not matter. After about mile 2 I took my jacket off and tied it around my race because i was burning up and going to get drenched no matter what so that was kind of annoying the whole race. I finally walked a bit around mile 3 but aftera 3 minute walk I still did just over 12 min mile so it was not hurting too bad. I spoke with some neat people on the course as well so it helped pas the time. Since it was a out and back loop I met the leaders and they were kicking it. Man to be able to run that fast is amazing. oh well on I go. I met Chris and Shannon somewhere around the 5 mile mark and they were looking strong so I contined on through the puddles and such to the turn around. this might be a good point to mention I really have not trained for this distance this year but you ive and lear. Any way sill running for several miles then walking a bit and I realized that I could keep this up the whole time and maybe do a 230 well I dont think so after about mile 9 my feet were cold and my legs were trashed. everytime I tried to start running again it got harder. So basically I walked about 80% of the last 3 miles.. But got close to the colliseum and ran down the ramp out on the field and across the finish line!
What would you do differently?:

Um train for the distance!! But no it was a good time and got me very motivate more than I have been all year.
