Pre-race routine:

Got to the school at 7 to hangout. Pretty cool to see so many people who are passionate about running. This event really brings them out. Right out of my car I see Hangloose. Good to see him and shoot the sh%t.
Event warmup:

A lap around the school.

Comments:

Good race. My goal was to go sub 1:40, which I did. I was ~25sec. off of my HM PR. I was really hurting in the middle of the course because I went out too fast. Oh well. Schmize passed me at mile 4 or 5ish which really surprised me 'cause I think he started up in front. Dumpster passed me at about mile 11 I think, kinda surprised me 'cause I thought he was in front of me. Well that is pretty much how it went. I passed a lot of people the first couple miles and then I did not pass a single person the rest of the race. I think I might enjoy it a little more to be passing people at the end of the race. When I came to the finish line and saw I was going to break 1:40, I was very happy.
What would you do differently?:

I think I got to learn how to pace myself. Schmize suggested that I could probably have done a minute or two better if I had paced myself better.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate chocolate chip cookies like they were going out of style, bananas, hot pretzels and water. Hung out with Whizzzz, Coredump, Schmize, MissKelly and Steve-

Event comments:

I don't carry a Garmin so I don't know. At 4mi I was under 28', which probably a bit fast. I paid for it in the middle of the race. Toward the end I had things under control a bit better.

It helped to read coredump's stategy for me...I raced it easy in the first half but still struggled with the hills. Just nothing like that in the city...and it killed.

Congrats on a great time and breaking 1:40...i was probably nipping at your heals.

That course is tough to pace for. It's a very fine balance to figure out how conservative to go the first half while still taking advantage of the hills and have enough to get through those last miles. Great job today!

Nice job - This is such a great race and awesome course. No wonder it sells out sooooo fast. Do they still have trays of big, warm pretzels after the race?

Great race.  Sub 1:40 out there is very good stuff.  BTW, Coredump has the market on the way to run that course.  I went out a little too fast myself, but was within HR range to keep attacking at the end.

Great to see you out there!
