My friend who is from there gave me the name of a restaurant--I will find the address and post it here.  If nothing else, there's pizza hut!    Beer and pasta anyone?

Lynne and I comprise 2/3 of the Athena division in the Oly race--guaranteed medals--although I guess first we have to finish!

Sister Madonna Buder is racing the Oly...she's an old friend of my dad's that I haven't seen in two decades, hopefully she remembers me.

Should we plan the BT meetup near the packet pick up on Friday evening?  Or at the beach for a swim?  I am open to suggestions...

I'd like to do a swim friday evening -- i think me and devotchkatata (sp?) will be carpooling down friday evening, probably arriving after 7. that may be too late to swim, we will have to see how traffic etc. is. if not, then maybe we can meet up and roast smores or something?

I will be leaving Seattle around 7:30 and getting in pretty late Friday...

I'm getting nervous and realizing how much training I have NOT done...my fiancee has literally done nothing and is just going for me, but he composes 100% of his Family Age Group, so he is going to medal in his very first tri as long as he finishes....

I've got ten people in my division...:-(. But at least I have a cute new outfit to wear!!!

I have another question -- the swim route looks like it tracks the shore...especially for the family division...how deep is it for sprint and family? Is it a deep water start? Are there multiple sprint waves?

I'm getting kind of nervous too. I think I'm pretty well prepared so maybe I'm more anxious than nervous. I can't get out of town until about 4:30 so it'll be later than I had hoped before I get over there. Even though it seems pretty straightforward it would be nice to at least drive the bike route before dark.

Hope the weather outlook doesn't get any worse. Looks like mid 50's at race time so may have to consider pulling on a long sleeve cycling jacket. Doesn't look like any rain though. This is going to be fun!!

Get off I-90 at Dodson Road, I think, and you can drive into ML on the bike course.  At least that's my current plan!  Sure would be nice to bike a bit today to remind the legs what a bike is, but this stupid rain is for the birds.  (ducks, anyway)

I've had a lousy morning and cannot wait to hit the road tomorrow!!!  Popsracer, how will we find you on race day?  Or, you can find us...probably easy to find a bunch of insane ladies together!!

How you know you are ill-prepared for a triathlon:

1. You have never swum in your wetsuit.
2. You have not ever done an open water swim in a competitive environment.
3. You have never actually practiced a transition, besides doing brick workouts and just changing from cycling shoes to running shoes.
4. You bought your outfit last night.
5. You have to figure out what these Yankz things are all about tonight.
6. You're bike is from Target. And it cost $150.

That's me. Plus, I'm suffering from a chest cold and I got slammed into last night during softball and my nose and forehead hurt. Poop.

This is truly a situation in which I will just be tri-ing to finish.

Sounds like a typical first triathlon!!  You will still have fun.  That's the weird thing about triathlons.  In hindsight, it was fun!

Here are a couple of dinner options:  Dana's Cafe http://www.danascafe.com/  606 W Broadway  -- looks like a pretty wide variety.  Depending on how many people want to eat, we could even make a group reservation at wherever we decide to go.

Michaels on the Lake is a little pricier but has a group room.... http://www.michaelsonthelake.com/  910 W Broadway

Packet pickup is 5-7 PM at Moses Lake Multisport, 516 W Broadway.

It looks like Broadway is the main drag in ML!  I am voting for the following BT plan if anyone is interested, and am open to changing it...but it's a start.  Swim at Blue Heron Park 4:30-5 ish (weather permitting), pick up packets at 6, dinner at Dana's to follow, around 645?

Who's in?

I would love to join you all for dinner but I can't get on the road until 4:30. I'll probably go down and over Snoqualmie as they are predicting snow in the higher passes. With traffic and all I just hope to get over there before dark.

I will be wearing a blue trisuit with a green or yellow cycling jacket but I'll keep an eye out for you.

Latest forecast is for overcast in the morning. 52 degrees at 8 a.m., 55 at 9 a.m., and 58 at 10 a.m., winds out of the SW at about 10 mph. That will be a crossing headwind on the first half of the bike with a little tailwind on the way back.

Drive safe everyone and have a great weekend.

Travel day!  Yay!

Here's a question for you guys--do you think it would be a waste of time and energy to put arm warmers on in T1 vs just throwing on a long sleeved shirt?  It seems like it will be cool on the ride.....I don't own a cycling jacket (will add it to my list of should haves) and in my multiple layers of support (sigh) I don't think I will dry very fast on the ride.

Thanks!  See you soon!

It's basically a long tube of spandex-type fabric that you pull over your arms so you don't need to wear a shirt under a jersey or a coat, or whatever.  I just bought my first pair a couple of weeks ago, and can't believe how handy they are. I tried putting them on this morning to see if it would hinder me in T1 and it only took a second to pull them on, so I am definitely wearing them!  REI had them on sale for under $8.  Novarra brand.

I will state that I did try to get into Lake Washington, but only went to my waist, because despite being a lifeguard in my former life, the waves were so huge that I thought I might drown!
