For those who have a blockbuster online account, they have a bunch of the TI DVDs that you can put in your queue.  I was going to buy a couple, but now am just going to get them through Blockbuster, and return at my leisure.   I am betting that NetFlix may have the same thing.....

BTW...  I need to find myself in the pool this week!!!

When I do a search on the Blockbuster queue site, I just get the one for backstroke and the one for the fly.

Is there one for the crawl/freestyle etc?  Would love to rent one and give it a look.

Ok, found this:  http://www.blockbuster.com/catalog/movieDetails/353927

Doesn't say "Total Immersion" but it's got the same guy in it, Terry Laughlin.  This the right one, for a bad swimmer looking to get better? :D

I have this one now from Blockbuster.  I was looking to buy the DVD but at $30 to $40, I thought it was too much $.  Then I looked on Blockbuster, and found that for $3.99 a month I could get 2 movies without time limits.  I got it.  At the same time, I decided that money spent on a coach would be very valuable and it has been.  I watched the video once and will probably return it this week so one of yall can get it.

check your library...I borrowed it for free.  OK, they didn't ship it to my door, but it was waiting for me on the hold shelf, quick in-n-out.

I'm a dedicated TI convert. Here are a couple of ideas I hope will help people get the most from TI. First realize that the TI approach to swimming is significantly different then traditional approaches. TI is focused on efficiency rather the working harder in the pursuit of speed. For example traditional swimming advocates kicking harder to go fast. TI focuses elsewhere. This means if one wants to stick with the TI technique it is wise to dedicate oneself to TI and not other philosophies. They generally don't mix well.

The TI technique begins with drills. Each drill focuses on one aspect of the whole stroke. You will be served well to work through the drills slowly. Don't rush to whole stroke. Make sure you are doing each drill correctly. A TI workshop or swim buddy will help you know when you are doing the drills correctly. I personally have progressed due to private TI coaching. If a TI coach is in your area, I highly recommend it.

It is very common for TI swimmers to run into difficulty transitioning from sweet spot breathing to rhythmic breathing. If you run into this challenge, consider purchasing the O2 in H2O DVD.

Also, the TI drills and technique are evolving. The Freestyle Made Easy contains older techniques. New freestyle DVDs are in the works.

Hope this helps,

Marc

That's my biggest complaint about the TI material...  No two books/DVDs contain the same set of drills.  If you start with TI, pick one edition and stick to it.  They'll all get you to the same spot.

Netflix also has the TI DVDs and it looks like they are available right away if you put them in your queue.

I noticed a few months ago that Netflix carried a few Total Immersion DVDs, but none of them cover freestyle, so they are not very helpful for the average triathlete.

I think you may be confusing Blockbuster and Netflix. Blockbuster has it, but Netflix does not. I searched under Total Immersion, Terry Laughlin as well as Freestyle Made Easy, and nothing came up on the Netflix site.

Netflix update...

I spoke to customer service, and they said they do not have the "Freestyle: Made Easy" DVD. They suggested I submit a "Title Request" to ask them to stock it. If a bunch of Netflix users recommend the DVD, hopefully they'll stock it soon.

The link is http://www.netflix.com/Suggest?type=0&lnkctr=cu_tr/>
Be sure to specify the title "Freestyle: Made Easy" by Terry Laughlin at totalimmersion.net
