Also, realistically, it will probably be closer to 10:00 ... in the dim possibility that anyone might be coming in slower than me, I didn't want them to feel like there wouldn't be anyone left at breakfast.

Congrats to all the BT Redondo Beach Tri finishers!

I was part of the volunteer traffic control/cheering squad located along the bike path (after the swim, before the stairs). Later on I was stationed at the food table- sorry if any of you confused the salsa for marinara sauce. It was beyond my control.

You guys tore it up! See you at Camp Pendleton...

Hmmm, my wife is in charge of that area, and I was traffic control at the actual crossing of the bike path up to the stairs.... An almost BT encounter

Saw Yanti and PJOinSM, also saw duggar and was going to get over and say hi but got called in on other duty.  After all these tris we've done togeher, never officially "met".  And sounds like it was worth it to stay around, as he got AG second (i think?)

Congrats to the BT finishers!  Looked a little chilly but good racing weather.

I wish training was by osmosis.  Of the 5 top 40+ male finishers, I train regularly and irregularly with 4 of them.  Or, at least try to

Hey everybody,

Sorry I couldn't brunch with you all...had my ex with me and that would have felt weird.  Nice tho that he came and watched with my little one.  We had to be up at the top of Topanga by 12, so I had to skee-dattle.

Glad to meet a few of my cyber buddies from BT!  There's still a few of you out there I need to find!

Good race, but I coulda lived without the long run betw ocean and T1!!!  Holy cow!

sorry for jetting early myself, after the race and cool-down I just felt all of the energy in my body draining (been a long couple of weeks for me) and I knew if I ate brunch I would have passed out.

Was good to see a few familiar faces!

Good morning fellow tri'ers...

Was not able to join you as well as my sister came into town to watch me. An unexpected event. She travelled from Lake Havasu City, AZ to see me do this. So... I joined her and my nephew for the remainder of the day.

I may have seen some of you and for those of you that volunteered, THANKS! You did an outstanding job. Perhaps some day I will have the opportunity to train or compete with some of you.

All my best...

Far as I know.... That's the info they were using to pass out awards.  I didn't hear the Clydes announcing as I was off emptying trash or something, so I didn't hear who they called, but looks like it was you

just saw the splits and I think they had a mix-up, I am pretty certain I did not have a 13 minute run. If I did that would be epic, but I think they must have switched my timing chip with someone else somehow. Will need to contact them to let them know.

Oh well, was nice to think I was that fast for a day!

Bask in the 13-min run glory for a while first, Pete!

FWIW, last year I raced Redondo and had no results at all. Contacted RD, but nothing ultimately came of that (was hoping at least for discount to this year's race). A few weeks ago I rode the PV switchbacks with RD Rick, and he said that my problem was not unique but that they were using the same timing company this year. It's a shame that the chips (from whatever company) still have so many glitches.

Anyway, I hope it all gets straightened out, and even if you "lose" your podium finish, you still rock.

I showed up late for lunch at Rocky Cola, about 11:45, but as I'd expected, you were all long gone. Oddly, there was an employee coming out of the ladies room with a mop and a bucket complaining about someone who apparently blew chunks all over the place, so I knew you'd been there. Maybe next time. I couldn't leave the race site early, as I'd placed 2nd in my AG (Chris, you noticed... I'll probably recognize you too if I ever actually meet you), and I wants my hardware!

Despite my high placing, I've been walking around a bit disappointed in myself as I not only missed my goal of breaking 50 minutes, I actually finished 7 seconds slower than last year. Then to add to my grief, I had a bad swim. I got out in front of my wave and couldn't sight the next buoy without coming to a complete stop and treading water, which I had to do several times. So wound up about a minute slower than last year, plus I may have cost myself an AG win by making a major amateur mistake in T2. But this morning, when logging in my workout, I referred back to the entry for last year's race. I checked my time and my memory was off by a full minute. So it turns out I finished 53 seconds faster than last year. So now I'm elated... a new PR! And I wasn't that far off my 50 minute goal anyway.

Except for that one blunder in T2, I had the best transitions ever. A major victory for me, as this is my big weakness. I made a couple of changes in procedure, but have to say that watching Mike Ricci's Video on transitions on the BT home page last week solved one of my big problems. Following his advice, I put lots of BodyGlide on my bike and running shoes where the foot goes in, especially on the inside of the heel. My feet just popped right in with no struggle at all.

Crap! this is turning into a race report. Sorry, I really need to find some time to put my race report together, maybe tomorrow.

Bike went real well too! Another of my weaknesses.

Just one more thing... finally, this race is giving us a full set of splits! Thank you Mr Crump for coughing up the extra money to make the stat-nut in me happy. We actually have T1 and T2 splits this year. Previously they've been part of the bike split, making the bike split meaningless. Now, if we could only get an official split from the water's edge to the top of the hill at T1....

Maybe I'll just copy and paste this into the race report form. Nah, there's so much more. God I love this race.

Congrats Doug!  Awesome race... sub 50 next year?  Surprised at the swim cuz the conditions looked good for a swimmer, and it looked like maybe you had a current?

I am also glad Rick bought 5 splits.  I gave him a rash of sh** over that last year.

If anyone has complaints, suggestions, etc you want brought to the RD, let me know, we're having a recap meeting next week and I'll bring it up.

Whoa, wait, you're kidding, right? Uhhh ... cause I really tried to aim ... ummm ...

Ah, can't help it, either I pass out dead next to just anybody/anywhere after sprint tris, or I yak.

Congrats on your super accomplishment and a great PR! As you know, ANY time cut off a race this short is a big deal.

I love this race, too. I had such a wonderful time.

Chris, it would take a looooong time to list all the stuff I loved--this is a CLASS ACT. (To which you just added more classiness. It was a joy to see you there. Thank you again for volunteering.) I was especially thrilled at how well-marked and well-staffed the run course was, since I would probably be in San Diego by now if it hadn't been.

The few quibbles I had: bottlenecks coming out of T1/into T2. The "fork" for 2nd lap/Transition came very quickly after a 90-degree corner and the signs were small.

That is really it. What an amazing race.
