Subject: Tri superstitions?
Anyone have any training or racing superstitions?  For me, I always feel a sense of confidence and relief if my racing number has either a "1" or  "2" in it....because my very first race number was "21".  When I don't have a 1 or a 2 in my race number, I feel nervous on race day.  I'm whacked.

In races, I always feel obsessively compelled to swim first, then bike, and then run. Always. I freak out if someone tries to change that.

My prerace superstitions are:

  • I get a haircut within 7 days of the race
  • I always wear a Superhero shirt race morning
  • I listen to Flock of Seagulls "I Ran So Far Away" at some point before the race

Even if I've shaved within the last week, I still end up shaving the night before.

Always take a Gu within 15 minutes of a race start, doesn't matter what length race.

Blueberry pancake the morning of a race, or if it's a real early start, I'll eat it the night before. I'm not sure if this is a superstition, tradition, or just an excuse to eat a blueberry pancake.

Anyone have any training or racing superstitions?

Nope. Just do the best I can for that day, plan for the worst, hope for the best, and accept the results.

The towel I use for transition is an old bath towel that was bought for me by an ex-boyfriend to keep at his house when I stayed over- he was a former triathlete. So I figure the towel might have some good tri-juju in it that keeps me from crashing

Ritual: Pedicure before the race. Vanilla milkshake afterwards.

Bagel with cheese for breakfast,
Cliffbar (exactly) one hour before swim start no matter the length of race.

I don't know why I do either of these things. I don't eat cliffbars anymore, but it was something I did years ago and still do it today.

I eat a bowl of Froot Loops along with my MRP shake.  I don't know what it is but I usually have a great race with Froot Loops.  I think they may put Andro in them.
