Subject: I'm quitting triathlon
I just can't take it anymore... after the years of training I just have to get out of the sport:
- My body continuously reeks of chlorine, but I still suck at swimming
- My RHR is so low I am in danger of passing out every time I stand
- The risk of sun damage
- Sore muscles all the time
- I spend all my lunch money on bike parts
- I sleep in the aero position
- I know 67 ways to count laps swimming, but have no idea how to HTFU

and mostly... I just really want a donut.

    I personally love chlorine - I consider it a free full-body cologne!

I just placed a giant order for DermaswimPro - silicone that you put on before getting in and all the triswim shampoo/bodywash and moisturizer.

that had DEFINITELY kept the chlorine smell down for me and kept me from turning into an alligator....

Is there a rule that you can't eat donuts?  I have a donut w/ two cups of black coffee everyday for breakfast.  Heaven.

Kuota - dude, your avatar is hilarious - though I miss the cowbell.

OP, quitting??  Come on, I just heard today that they are adding a second Kona race, and that all finishers get a brand new tri bike of their choice.  Sweeeeet!

As a 23 year old, I've learned much in my old age. My advice is definately to quit. After 25 years of triathlon, I've matured from a ripped biking machine to a studly ripped biking machine. So again we've arrived at the age old question: If you're not studly, why do triathlons?

Yall are killing me.  It is lunch time now and I want a donut.  How about six donuts.  My one bagel and hard boiled egg in the morning does not fill me up as much as my old eating habits of fast food breakfasts.

One of my favorites was a Dunkin Donuts blueberry muffin and a bowtie donut.  Yum.

There is a bear in my stomach.

I ate a donut a few weeks ago. Well, I didn't really eat it. I sat watching it for several minutes, like a lion watches gazelles. Doing the math, "If I run an extra half hour, I could burn that off?" The I ate it, or inhaled it, or simply stuffed it down my throat with guilty gages of ecstasy. Have I shared to much? Just when when my therapist moved me past my mother's titanic weight of guilt, only to be replaced by donut guilt. Wonder what my insurance co-pay is for donut therapy?

Seriously, you guys don't eat donuts?  Why not?   What the he11 is the point in torturing yourself with hours of training if you can't eat some goodies a few times a week?

I agree with TKBSLC. The ONLY reason I Train for Triathlons is so that I can eat donuts.

    Exactly.

I don't train because I eat, I train SO THAT I can eat.

I feel you dawg, but then I look on the bright side. How many other obsessive, compulsive smuks can drink mass quantities of beer and still have only 12% body fat?
