Pre-race routine:

hmm..let's see. laid out everything last night, got up, got dressed grabbed my bag and a bran muffin and left. got to the metro, realized my chip was not there. drove back to woodbridge from springfield, retrieved said chip, then drove to dc. no way i was going to make it if i got on the metro. by the grace of the parking gods, found a spot near 12th and independance and went to meet my friends pre-race.
Event warmup:

warm up was jogging about 1/4 mile from my car to the event start and making it about 10 min before race time. did my gluteus medius stretch at the start and rocked on

Comments:

Good run, stayed calm and comfortable. Didn't go out way too fast like that time. Wore a t-shirt and some running pants so no overheating. i was a little chilly at the start, but i quickly warmed up and got comfortable. i had a great time and enjoyed every minute of it. around mile 2 got a pain in my right foot. got another in the left foot. just kind of ran through it, although this is where i started walking a little. i got done and realized i had blisters on both feet in the arches. no clue why - i've been wearing these shoes for all my training since i got them. i have run 3 miles in them before. maybe it was rain and they got wet? i don't know why but they hurt.
What would you do differently?:

nothing. well maybe not leave my chip at home, LOL.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around in the rain. did some stretches and walked back to my car

What limited your ability to perform faster:

blisters around mile 2. made me slow down and walk a little.

Event comments:

Great race, very organized, tons of volunteers and plenty of water at the water stations. I had a great time and a great run. i am glad i wore less layers than last time and i'll do this one again. well hopefully i'll be up to the 10 miler soon :)

Performance: Good
Around 12:30 at the 1 mile and 29 at the 2 mile. HR stayed in the 180s, i really pushed it this race. i felt comfortable and only walked a little. i wanted to keep jogging, even if slowly.
Course: pretty flat out and back in east potomac park. start went down a little hill and finish was back up it. didn't notice the hill at all at the start. felt every inch of it on the way back. pretty course though, by the water and with the rain it was comfy running tempratures.

Great job today Kim!!  Keep at it and yes, you'll be doing the 10-miler.  A year and a half ago, I couldn't run 3 minutes without taking a walk break.

Awesome job! I only started running last spring, and so I'm shocked that I ran 10 miles today! You'll have no problem next year

Great job yesterday!  Wow, cutting it close on the start is a good jump start for the heart, but I don't want to make it a habit.  Seemed like there were quite a few people on the metro with me, and we all sort of realized we were cutting it close.

Awesome job out there!  You are gonna have an awesome season.

Congrats!

Blister were probably from wet socks and working hard.

PBs rock..keep running consistently and you will be amazed what you can do. Dream big...many of us are to modest in our goals.

When I started I was so slow but determined....first tri my run pace was 13:08 m/m...

Awesome job~
