Pre-race routine:

Peanut Butter and Toast. Did not sleep much at all, but still woke up with more than enough energy.
Event warmup:

Since all the roads were closed leading to the event, we had a brisk 3 mile walk to the starting line. Where we than stood for 45 minutes surrounded by more people than I have ever seen.

Comments:

The run was great. I probably could have gone faster given the amount of energy I had at the end, but for my first one I cannot complain. I definatly understand now why serious runners do not care for this race, there are just so many people. You are constantly weaving in and out.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster
Post race
Warm down:

Party in the park, with tons of food available. My group however ignored all of this and went straight for the bar. Never in my life has a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and a beer tasted so good at 9 am.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The extra 40 lbs I was carrying

Event comments:

Good Times

Performance: Average
Course: The course can be described as hill, but not hilly. The bridge was longer on the decent than on the way up, which was nice, and as an added bonus there was techno music and people handing out krispy kreme donuts after mile 4. And once you arrived downtown, everything was a blast. There was music coming from all over, and hundreds of people with cow bells, naturally forcing me at one point to scream "more cow bell."

Great job!

I usually like my own post-race food too. So you are not alone. Nothing wrong with a beer at 9am after a race. I had one after a half marathon back in December when it was in the 40s. Very tasty, even for crap beer.
