Hello everyone. Jan 4th 2008 I weighed 222lbs and smoked a pack a day. On Jan 5th 2008 I put down the smokes and started my membership at the ocal YMCA. Feb 5th 08 I hadn't smoked yet and my weight was 210. I haven't weighed my self to date but all my cloths are to big and I get alot of compliments on how well I look. I'm 38 yrs old, Married with 3 kids. I'm a Correction Officer for Albany County Sherrifs Dept. On April 6th I ran my first 5mile race I finished 270th out of 607 with a time of 41:15. Very proud of myself. Now its on to a sprint triathlon in may. Came to this site for training help and advice.

Hi and congratulations on your progress! I'm curious to know what training program you are using? I will be doing my first tri-athalon at the end of June. I am also from upstate but further up (Buffalo) I am 39 with 2 children.. Not always easy to get in the workouts as I work full-time as well! I'll be anxious to hear all about your race! Especially since it's before mine!!

Welcome to BT. I've had the pleasure of working out at the East Greenbush YMCA. It's a nice facility. My in-laws live in that area. My father-in-law is a retired trooper.

You should consider doing the duathlon put on the by NY State Troop Foundation. It's for a fallen trooper. I can find out the info if you're interested. Just PM or inspire my blog.

Welcome fellow NYer!

You've come to the right place. This site and the people on it are amazing. There are also some great training plans you should check out. I did my 1st tri (oly) last summer and used one of the free plans here -did pretty well. Beware these tri's are very addictive!

Welcome to BT, Lockdown!

I grew up in Defreestville, walking distance to HVCC...Capitol District tri club in your area looks like it has a lot of good stuff going on.  You've made some great starts--keep up the good work and have fun!
