Event warmup:

2m bike to pool start. little chilly but once sun up, felt great.
Swim
  • 02m 6s
  • 100 meters
  • 02m 06s / 100 meters
Comments:

RD should NOT have sent women into pool while over 40 men were still swimming - how demoralizing for them?!
What would you do differently?:

swim next to women who had recently shaved legs or just don't shave. stubble HURTS! But I was proud of myself for swimming so well in the mass confusion. just ignored it and had my peace. great great great!
Transition 1
  • 00m
What would you do differently?:

wow, nice and smooth, felt great. Good pre-race reading really helped me be prepared. socks were pre-rolled and went right on, helmet, glasses, race belt all ready to go!
Bike
  • 11m 9s
  • 2.5 miles
  • 13.45 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

adjust bike so more than 3 gears available ;) but really, race went well. passed a few, inspired a 25 yr old to not get beaten by this old lady, was passed by a number on road bikes. OK by me. me and my mud hawgs had fun. time includes T1. everything was so quick, hard to remember to hit LAP button for T1/T2.
Transition 2
  • 00m
What would you do differently?:

sweet transfer - again, thanks to prep.
Run
  • 12m 9s
  • 1.2 miles
  • 10m 07s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

would have liked a sip of water at stat of race. none available. walked twice for 30 and 15 seconds. After second walk then felt I found grove and did fine. prior to that I had poor pacing and was pushing too hard. but overall pace is at training rate so I'm satisfied! Had a small kick at the end when finish was in sight so I looked good, heh!
Post race
Warm down:

water, food, walking. wishing for the promised pancake breakfast - had cold sammie instead. not the same!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

sleep? kids didn't sleep well so neither did Mama. :( I didn't really push myself, but that's OK, this was a "see what it's all about" not a "race." more training - but for 4 weeks off couch, this was great. I feel very happy. went off to tea with girlfriends and showed off markings to friends :)

Event comments:

enjoyable entry level race or start-of-season fun tri. Would do it again easily. quick easy fun race. picked up info on Kids' tri - Hannah and Aiden will do this year, Teresa and Valerie can next year!

Congratulations! I did this race too. I *totally* agree about the swim for the under-40 women's group (I ranted about it in my race report) -- very cruel to do to the men, and it made for a lame start for the women too.

I agree it was a fun race, though, and it looks like you did great (especially on that chaotic swim). It's definitely a good race for practicing transitions and getting a feel for the tri thing.

oh, this tri was not supposed to be my "first" -- it just looked like too much fun after I signed up for the "real" one - a sprint in June.  I'm only in week 4 of training off the couch

Very impressive with only 4 weeks training

Great job preparing for the T1/2 you will not believe how many “forget” to think  about transitions and then panic when is dose not go the way they thought it would.

So what is next ?
