Run
Comments: I was disappointed in my overall pace. I tend to start out too fast and then not be able to finish comfortably in the end. So, I relied on Craig and his garmin to keep my pace slower in the beginning and I was hoping to pick up the pace around mile 10 to finish out strong. I had trouble with my breathing around mile 5, but was able to get it under control. So much for picking up the pace at mile 10. Around mile 8 I had major knee pain which caused me to pause for about a min or two a couple of times. I was able to shift my weight to the other leg a bit in order to work through the pain. The knee continued to be aggrevated a bit through the rest of the race, but I kept going. I know I slowed Craig down on this race. He sacrificed a good run time for himself in order to make sure my breathing got under control and stopped with me when I had to stop. So a special thanks to firstnet911 for putting up with my whiney donkey hiney...:) The crappy rain, brutal wind and cold didn't help the situation either. I am pleased that I finished my first half marathon and looking forward to longer racing in the future, hopefully with better results. Nutrition/Hydration. Sports beans/water. Sports beans around mile 6 and took advantage of the water and gatorade at all the stations. Sipped on Craig's supply of water from his fuel belt. What would you do differently?: Gotten more sleep the night before. Post race
Warm down: Extremely chilled at the end. Went inside to change and warm up. Calves and quads tight. Struggled with the knee a bit. Chatted with the donks and headed out for warm coffee and KOPPS burgers!!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of sleep, weather conditions and just not a whole lot of mojo for the day. Event comments: I'll would run this event again. Great to see so many people suck it up and race considering the crappy weather and a special thanks to the volunteers that cheered us on in the miserable cold and windy conditions. It was great to see and chat with so many donks/BTers: Firstnet911, DJDavey, Sgoehner, Force, PJGrande, Tri-N-Spin, TriDDS, Travisvb24 and Sandivb76. Last updated: 2008-04-02 12:00 AM

Woke up had coffee, PB/bagel and contemplated with Craig about even racing. The weather was crappy, sheeoty rain, cold and snow. We decided to DTFU and race anyway. Drank 2 bottles of water headed out. Met up with DJDavey, Force, PJGrande, Sgoehner and Tri-N-Spin. Took a few pics and did a little stretching. Didn't get more than 3 hours of sleep the night before so I kinda knew ahead of time this wasn't going to be a great run.
Stretching and lotsa peeing!! A little too much hydration before the race.
