Overall Rank = 42/324

Age Group Rank = 6/28
Pre-race routine:

Woke up late as it was a "spring forward" day and my cell phone acting as an alarm clock did not change time until my alarm went off!! Weird...i know. So i woke up an hour later than expected, gahtered my things and was off to the race while eating a banana, apple and a power bar while comsuming water and gatorade mix.
Event warmup:

I went to the bike register, race number and then i set up my bike. At this point I put the ipod on and began a light jog around the finishing section of the course. About a mile warm up and then a stretch.
Swim
  • 15m 50s
  • 1000 meters
  • 01m 35s / 100 meters
What would you do differently?:

draft and not allow the temperature of the water to ruin my stroke count and breathing pattern.
Transition 1
  • 02m 50s
Comments:

had trouble getting the wetsuit off and then i decided to put socks on. It did take me a long time to do this because it was my first time but i am happy with the outcome. It was very cold conditions and not conducive of a typical transition.
What would you do differently?:

get a routine laid out.
Bike
  • 47m 18s
  • 25 kms
  • 31.71 km/hr
Comments:

I did the best in this disciple out of them all, i carried over my thinking from last year...to stay with a pack and focus (on the event you are in). This helped and i batted one guy for the entire 18 miles; this seems to be my strong suit, when i have someone around it hightens my effort to allow me to "hang" at the end (about 2 miles left) I left him and then it was on to the run.
What would you do differently?:

NOT DROP MY WATER BOTTLE ON THE 10TH MILE!!!!! DRINK MORE AND HAVE A CAFFINE SUPPLEMENT
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

transition went great!!! I was among the top in age group but needs work.
What would you do differently?:

get race belt on quicker.
Run
  • 17m 35s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 05m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

I did not focus, did not have legs under me and need to concentrate on moving up.I only let one person pass me as they were flying!! I stayed with a gent. who i later became friends with (he is doing St. Anthony's) BTW it was definetly not a 5k much less 3 miles.
What would you do differently?:

KICK!!!!! at the end!!!!
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

temperature and run length/ aneroobic threshold
