Really wanted to do this one with my cousin. He is seven years younger and faster so I was hoping to take the sprint to a new personal record. Unfortunately I am going to be doing an Adventure Race the same weekend...multisport, but not triathlon. My heart will be with all of you!

I just have to say that your avatar kicks a$$! Huge Misfits and Glenn Danzig fan here. Oh, and good luck on your first tri. I am kicking around the idea of doing this race too. Undecided.

I did this last year - the bike has some hills - the issue is coming down some then turning 90 degrees to climp another - not bad.  The swim is a 25m lanes - difficult to pass.  The run is nice, not allot of hills.  I would do this but it is the day after the Jimmy Buffett concert - sorry.

I'm in- I just signed up.

I have ridden parts of the course several times since I live out that way. Although the country roads are bumpy, hilly, full of cracks, and gravelly, it's a pretty descent route for the most part. I would say half of the course is on those nasty country roads and half is on regular roads.

Beware of the run from the swim to transition. It's pretty gravelly so it hurts a little.

The run course is my favorite. There are maybe 2 small hills to run up, but other than that, it's flat or downhill.

I'm praying for LOW wind for this race!

I would LOVE to have one race this year with low/no wind. Don't think its gonna happen this spring, however.

I am considering signing up today...Brian will be out of town so I would be racing solo.  I don't know if I can do that!

I'll be there.  (In my green/black Javelin outfit.)  I raced it last year also.

Comments about the bike course so far are fair -- half country roads, half regular.  There's one particularly gravelly/bumpy road out at the furthest portion of the course.  The 90-degree turns are there, so be careful -- because they are country roads, they can be gravelly in the turns.  I'm usually pretty aggressive in the corners (hence my broken elbow in a race last year), but I took it easy on this course.

I actually thought the run was a little hilly.  Not hard or particularly steep, but more consistently rolling (or at least inclined), until you got to the last 3/4 mile.  One (minor) warning - if you are a taller athlete, the run goes through a  foot tunnel under a street in the last 1/2 mile.  It's only 30' long or so,  but I remember it being a little short, height-wise.  I didn't have to hunch as I went through, but I think some did.

Wind might not be a terrible issue.  A lot of the roads on the bike course is tree-lined, which breaks up the wind a little.  Also, it's pretty windy, so you won't be battling the same wind for a long stretches of time.  The run course is through neighborhoods and tree-lined greenbelt, so same thing.

The wife and I are planning on riding it tomorrow morn. I plan on doing it once with her to check it out and a second time to get in more miles and ride it harder the second time alone. Not sure what time we're planning on going yet, but if you want to meet up I'd be willing. Our first loop will be slower as my wife isn't too fast but my second loop on my own will be faster. Not sure what pace you normally ride.

That would be great. Thank you. I don't know the area very well. I'll send a private msg so we can exchange information. I was thinking of riding and then doing a easy run after. Really haven't planned anything.

I will be there to cheer on davidb and others!  I will be the one with the two little kids and either the obnoxious yellow double stroller or the simpler blue one if I decide my older can handle it on foot the whole time.
