I am planning on getting up there in the next few weeks for some training.  Is anyone aware of any construction on the route that may cause an issue?  A few years ago a section of the course was closed.  It wasn’t a big deal, but just nice to know ahead of time.

Maybe the WI DOT (or the county) website has a construction project section you can check out.

I suspect that nobody has been on the course yet to verify the conditions.  Without the winkey-smiley after your statement, I'm not taking your comment very lightly.  Please correct me if it was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek.

Birkierunner - 2008-04-21 9:23 AM does someone need to chill out?

I didn't have a great day yesterday, Birkie, after my dog decided to take a bite out of our neighbor's kid's hand, so that's still on my mind.

The WI/IL state line?   <--- Seeeeee, winky-smiley!

If all is well this upcoming Sun. I may do one loop of IMWI, that is, after I finally get the gumption (wow, where did that word come from?) to clean the cleats since the Blessing of Burro rescue.  No, Chris, I'm lazy and haven't got to them yet.

If you feel like going uber-slow, I could join you this Sunday. Haven't done anything near 40 yet this year, though. So, it'd have to be suuuuuper slow. I've never done a whole Ironman loop, mostly because by mid summer it's so dang crowded and all the drivers are all grouchy about all the bikes and that scares me.

If we ride the course Sat, I'll let you know what the conditions are like i.e., construction, potholes, sand, grit, rocks left over from the sucky winter we had.

Rode the 43 mile loop twice from Firemans Park out and back. The course has some road issues potholes and gravel. Most of it is light to no traffic if you head out early and allows you to stay in the lanes. As of Sunday, no glass or debris. Having a lot of rain today and should help wash away the junk. Have a good ride.

i have the loop gmap'd here on BT...look up Ironman Loop 40 mile Verona/Mt. Horeb/Cross Plains

Did a one-looper today.  Roads weren't too bad, but there are a few spots where a good sweeping may help.  There are some areas where the road has broken up some in the white line.  There was a down branch overhanging the right-side lane (following the IM route) somewhere near mile 36 to 39 (I was getting tired and didn't have a pencil and paper to write it down).

Some good news - someone marked YELLOW arrows near the turns.  A guy I met enroute that was preparing for IM Brazil in 2 weeks stated that they weren't there a couple of days ago.

More rain coming, so I'm sure more down branches and gravel mess for the next couple of weeks.
