HOW DID THIS GET BY ME? WHEN DID THE BIKE COURSE CHANGE? I THOUGHT I GAVE IT A GOOD LOOKING OVER WHEN THAT PAGE WAS UPDATED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO, BUT THEY SLIPED IN 3 SIGNIFICANT CHANGES:

1)INSTEAD OF TURNING WEST ON OSCEOLA PARKWAY FROM WORLD DRIVE, THE ROUTE CONTINUES SOUTH PAST US 192 TO A TURNAROUND POINT.IT THEN COMES BACK TO OSC. PKY TO HEAD WEST.

2).THE RIGHT TURN AT HERTZOG RD. IS STILL INCLUDED, BUT ONLY TRAVELS .9 MILES TO THE TURNAROUND. THEN, INSTEAD OF TURNING RIGHT AT SEIDEL RD., THE COURSE CONTINUES NORTH TO PORTER RD. FOR ANOTHER OUT AND BACK, EXCEPT NOW IT WILL INCLUDE THOSE ROLLING HILLS.

3). (KUDOS FOR THIS CHANGE) A LEFT AT OVERSTREET INSTEAD OF DEALING WITH DISNEY CAST TRAFFIC ON REAMS RD. WILL SPEED UP JUST ABOUT EVERYONE. AND CALM THEIR NERVES.

THE RELOCATION OF THE AID STATIONS SHOULD BE A NON FACTOR AS THEY APPEAR TO HAVE ONLY SHIFTED A MILE OR SO.

I WILL CHECK OUT THE CHANGES THIS SUNDAY AND POST ANY SIGNIFICANT ITEMS.

why are you screaming?

the past 2 years the course is been different so in good tradition it should be different this year! To be honest since I have no idea about any of the streets down there they could have changed it and tell me it was the same course and I wouldn't known...

have you ride the old course before? does the changes make the course faster, slower or about the same?

I had this posted down in the Florida 70.3 thread but I wasn't getting any love and noticed this.  So, I copied my question to here.

Can anyone give feedback about the bike course?  I know it's mainly flat but when should we expect headwind and tailwind on the course and is there anything specific to be aware of?

I've also heard that part of the run is on the trails.  I run in Newtons and was advised I probably shouldn't wear them on this course.  Advice?  Thanks!

I don't remember wind being a huge factor, but I think it will depend on the day and from which direction the wind is coming from as far as head / tail wind.  I remember the run being predominantly off road - 3 loops that I wouldn't really call a "trail"...more like uneven grassy surface with a small tire track "trail"...it's like a dirt/grass access road or something.  I may have been hallucinating during the run, though, so take it with a grain of salt!!

I thought it was a little windy last year.  Last year the course stair-stepped in a northeast direction before coming back south to transition.  The winds last year were coming out of the northeast so to me it felt like more than half of the ride was into the wind.  I vaguely remember cursing quite loudly at the wind around mile 40.

I did this last year.....not sure what the bike changes mean....your version of "rolling hills" and mine may differ (mind you, I just did St. Croix!!).
The run: My better half used/will again use newtons...just not that much pavement to find in order to benifit from them.

Is there a "Who's racing FLA 70.3 thread started?
