Subject: How can I pull faster?
Hey gang! I have noticed at swim practice that my pulling is SIGNIFICANTLY slower than my regular swim speed. Any tips for improving pull speed? I'm sick of getting my feet whapped with paddles. Thanks!

Now that is an interesting statement. Usually you find that newer swimmers (and I am assuming you are relatively new...haven't looked at your logs) pull faster than they swim due to the fact that they have a weak kick and the buoy keeps the hips higher in the water. Having not seen you swim I have no idea what to tell you. Sorry.

It's not unusual to pull slower than you can swim. It shows that you have a good kick. I have always pulled slower than I can swim. I used to lead the lane in swim sets and drop back to last on pull and kick sets.

Don't get discouraged with it, just work the pulls and the kicls and you will swim faster. That's what counts, how fast you swim.
