Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 6:00 AM. Took the dog out for his walk and ate my normal pre race breakfast - peanut butter and banana sandwich. Had it on potato bread this time. Yummy. Left the house around 7:15 and made it to the race site in plenty of time to put my race number on and tie my chip to my shoe.
Event warmup:

Not much. Stretched out my legs. Tried to keep warm. Maybe I should have run a little bit beforehand, but this was my first time at this distance so I wasn't sure how I should warmup. I didn't regret not running beforehand.

Comments:

I ran well today. Unfortunately I didn't hit my 8 min / mile goal, but I'm not disappointed with the run at all. I am still struggling on the uphills and just need to run more so I can handle them a little better. My strength seems to be on the downhill. I find that I pass a lot of people on the downhill, but then they catch up to me again on the uphill. That happened a lot with me and another girl for most of the course. I wound up pulling ahead in the end though. It's getting better with each race though and I know that with more training I'll be able to handle them better.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. I just need to run more. :)
Post race
Warm down:

Took my chip off and went to find Steve. He was there to meet me at the finish line. Stretched my legs out a bit and went to find the food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I struggle on the uphills and in a notoriously hilly area like Columbia, that's not a good thing.

Event comments:

I really enjoyed this race and will do it again next year. The brunch was awesome. Great food and they had Heinekin.. whoo :)

Nice job on this race. SO glad it didn't rain- it started about 10 minutes after I finished. How did you find your age group rank?

Great race again - iffy taste in beer, but you get a pass because I would have been happy about it too although I can think of quite a few I'd have preferred.

yeah... we really got lucky with the rain!  It was nasty for the rest of the day.  I just started counting down from the top and looking for women in the 24-29 age group.  I counted incorrectly the first time though.
