Given what happened in San Diego this morning, I'm scared sh1tless to swim anywhere. I know that's a panic reaction, but I'm a panicker. This is scary.

Scottt,

Are BoP swimmers ok to join your group, or not a good idea? I am usually 2 to 2 1/2 minutes per hundred.

My feelings won't be hurt if you say that I should practice more before I join your group.

Re the Shark attack...  Yeah, freaks me out a ton.  BUT we have to let logic take over and remember, world wide, there were only 71 shark attacks last year, only 1 of those fatal.  71 attacks with zillions of swimmers.  Also, there's never been a shark attack in the LA area.

But I think I'll stick to closed bays for the forseeable future!!!  Surprised

Hi Cash!

I don't know what BoP means, but if you're talking about the Alamitos Swim on Friday evenings, I think it's the best place to practice at any level!  I just did it yesterday, and I am as beginner as it gets with swimming, esp OWS, and this bay was calm as a pool.  Here, you can really practice sighting, you can swim as much or as little as you want, as fast as you want, anything!  And Scott, who leads this swim, answered a lot of my questions during the swim, like how to sight and stuff.  It was great!

Scott, are the Friday swims the LA Tri Club swims? I just saw the same places and times on their training calendar.

Thanks! I'll try to make it this Friday night. After being freaked out about sharks, I need to get back in OW before it develops into a full blown phobia!

Cash,  All are welcome.  Great place to improve your skills.  None of us are fish.

Jocelyn, Yes they are.  I'm taking this next Friday off, due to Wildflower.  I'll be back the week after (May 9).  No other conflicts until Vineman (July).

Rasta, You did great!

Is the swim cancelled this Friday, or are you just not able to go? I'd really like to.

I just can't go.  It sounded like several people still planned to swim.
