Anyone out there done this one before? I am a newbie, and this is the big race I have been training for. Any advice about the race would be much appreciated.

I've been out to jockstrap this race twice and this will be my first crack at this particular race myself.  I do know that you should expect hot, humid conditions, and make sure you prepare yourself for a lot of trail running.  The past couple of years, race day has been a scorcher.

The water is usually quite calm in the swim, though.  And it's usually warm.  I've never seen it go off with a wetsuit-legal ruling.

That's about all the insight I have from an outside point of view.  There are plenty of BTers who have done this race so I'm sure you'll get loads of info!

Don't bring running shoes that you care if you trash. They will NOT ever be the same after the 'trail' running. The run is three times a 4.3 mile loop around Ft Wilderness campground(pavement), between Ft Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge(1/2+ the loop and on grass/dirt trails) and then back from Wilderness Lodge to Ft Wilderness on another short section of pavement. The problem with the trail and shoes is that it's dusty and your feet get wet either from sweat or from the water that you purposedly dump on yourself in an attempt to cool and then the dirt just embeds itself in the shoes. Result- shoes that are never the same again.

Swim- not wetsuit legal and can NOT pre-swim the course. Not open until race morning due to Disney boat traffic.

Bike- fast but not totally flat and expect wind-from multiple directions.

This is my third year in a row doing the race. I've done better organized and certainly done worse but the course works for me as it's got the potential to be fast and the location works for family.

Anyone wanna try and meet up for dinner on Saturday night?

I think I'm just gonna hit Carrabba's on International Drive.  I'm not gonna worry about reservations or anything, I'll just show up around 5pm.  Anyone care to join?

WEll, on saturday evening, I'll be dining at the BMX track in St. Cloud.  They always have the finest meats on a stick, funnel cakes and pizza with cheese thicker than the crust with a fine coating of dust over the top of everything...wash it down with a Bawls energy drink, and you're good to go on race day Sealed.    Sure you don't all want to meet there?

Are there any Geocaches there I wonder???  I lived in St. Cloud for 2 years.  I bought my first house there.  I actually miss it.  Go figure eh?

Aside from the dust coating, the rest of the junk food sounds great!  I love fried food.

I forgot to think about geocaching!  It's a long day at the track between races...Quinn and I will look for some.  If you love fried food why don't you start BMXing?  Or at least come watch.    The big boys are pretty exciting/amazing to watch!!!  First round of funnel cakes on me

11:21 here. My Ironman goal this year. Looking forward to the wave set-up. Last year was in 2nd to last wave and got to see the pro's start and finish before I strolled back to the start line.

#60 here. Not sure how I feel about that. Kind of a nondescript entity. Feel like I need something with more gusto... or at least more numbers. Tongue out

I've been given 2380 and 2382.  After an email I learned that I will get to choose which one I want and they'll just dump the other one.  My wife's lucky number is 13 so I'm thinking I'll go with 2380 (2+3+8+0=13).  It is also Michael Jordan's number and Jerry Rice's Number together.  You can't beat that duo.

Actually...that's negative 5.  1-6 = -5    We could start talking about absolute value...

|1-6| = 5

Hehe...OK, I give up.  See?  I leave my phone in the car and don't get your call, and now I'm telling you you're a negative number...sheesh...some friend I am.
