Pre-race routine:

Ate a Clif bar, drank some water, talked a lot about how I wasn't going to finish
Event warmup:

Warm up? For a race I didn't think I'd complete?!
Run
  • 1h 05m 13s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 10m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

My knee started hurting during the run. I didn't really pay attention because I was so concentrated on finishing. I managed a solid sprint to the finish which was exciting, passed a couple people. Nick ran with me the whole way and was really helpful and supportive, always giving positive feedback. Spectators were nice, too. As soon as I crossed the finish line I realized how much my knee was hurting. It really was quite painful to put weight on it, and I limped around the awesome post-race festivities.
What would you do differently?:

Train? I hadn't ran more than a 5k without stopping in about a year, since last time I decided to randomly do a 10k without training.
Post race
Warm down:

Talked to Dad and Brat.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Didn't train much

Event comments:

Very well-run race, awesome post-event buffet with wide variety of food & drinks. Hills were too hard for me but if I had trained more I would have really loved the course- good rolling hills that weren't too steep and good downhill recoveries.

Commenting on your lack of more training.  Good luck finding the right balance.  I struggle too.

I am curious - what were the weight divisions in your Clyde event?  Around hear, when offered, the Clyde divisions are 185-199, 200-219, 220-239, and 240+.

Nice race, Grace!! Way to finish even when you were in pain.

Perhaps you may want to change your pre-race visualization techniques to something a little more positive than "talking about how you probably weren't going to finish". It may just be me.
