I see a lot of people recommending Bob. Just some FYI, there is a girl from another fitness oriented website who refers to her collection of jigglesticks and "toys" as her Bob's. Don't know if this makes you lean more or less toward the name. Just thought it was kind of funny...

Okay... I have stared at the bike, read the threads of wonderful suggestions... then have stared at your bike again. [glad the reflectors are off and you're not going for that "Tiger" suggestion, I too have painful memories at a certain Sugar Bowl a few years back being hounded as "Tiger Bait"]...

I think it has a younger fun look to it... so, nothing too sophisticated, yet... but a name that can be sophisticated....

The first name that popped into my mind was

+Teddy [weren't you just soooo glad to have gotten the bike you wanted to hug it? So not cuddly but cute]]
+ Sammy or Sam
+ Freddie or Fred
+ and if you're so sports inclined... what about Chief [I'm sure I'll get creamed for this suggestion too]

Despite me liking the popular Bob suggestion... I have this knot in my back that I got from one of my accidents... no matter what has been tried, it still is there, won't go away-stubborn thing.... for whatever dillusional reason one day I named it Bob. Bob, the knot, has been with me close to three years. Don't know why I had to share that... but do let us know what you decide! :0)

I've been contemplating the name TRITON.

Here is my rationale.  That's a strong, kick butt sounding name.  The bike is beachy looking, and I would rather be at the beach than just about anywhere else, plus I read on the Greek mythology website that The great King Triton held REFLECTORS in his hands to ward off evil spirits!!!  :-)

Really, Triton was pretty moody (I'm not anything like that though!!), he could stir the sea and create all kinds of problems when he was mad, BUT when he was happy, all was well.  No, nothing like my house!!  ;-)

So...what ya think???

Triton is a pretty good choice ... and it incorporates the word "tri", which gives it a "double entente"! Tigger would have been better ... grumble .. grumble ... Great choice!

I think Machiavelo is onto something...if Tiger is out, Bob represents 'toys' hehehe, whaddya think about tigger?  Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, Because it's the only one...

I've been contemplating the name TRITON.

I like it!! And it's kinda funny because I was just being a smartass suggesting Bob. Could you pick a more generic name? (all apologies to all you Bob's out there!)

You can copy mine if you wish. I simply call mine "Bitch". Because, that is what I call her when I am climbing - "come one, Bitch CLIMB!"

If you are going to go mythological, my first choice would be Argos ('course that's also my dogs name). He was Odysseus' dog who watched over and protected his wife while he was gone for the 20 years. Loyalty, obedience, stamina, etc...

Switching to the Norse perspective, my second choice would be Thor. You know, wielding the hammer of the gods, thunder and lightning and all that...

But my favorite is still Mike.

When I was riding my touring cycle from Canberra to Townsville a few years back I got onto a rough road.....let me tell you the crotch was feeling well and truly crunched by the end of the day.

Then one time I was riding my bike in the city and I did not see a speed bump....nuff said as I have terars in my eyes again.

I suggest "Rih" like Winnetou's (or Old Shatterhand's ??) horse - its Arabic and it means "wind".

Staying with the whole greek mythology theme, I like Zeus.  Very strong powerful god.  Yeah, Zeus sounds good.

I remember a previous post on the same subject and someone mentioned that eskimos do not name their kayaks because it give the boat a soul of it's own. When they are using it, they want to become one with it. So, by not naming their boats, that oneness is achieved. I didn't name my new bike after I read that. Something to think about...

Thanks Frank.

Now I don't have to name my bike. I like that eskimo deal.

Well, to incorporate your love of triathlons and horses, why not Trigger?  If I didn't already have a name for my bike, I'll probably name it Bullitt (after the killer Mustang driven by Steve McQueen in the aply named movie).

I stayed with Triton.  Thank you to everyone for the suggestions.  :-)

I had a horse named Trigger that was a PITA, and I don't want to curse the bike with bad memories.
