Total Time = 1h 29m 28s
Overall Rank = 6/38

Age Group Rank = 2/8
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:30, showered, ate a bagel w/PB and headed out. Stopped at Starbucks for a morning pick-me-up and drove the 40 minutes to the race site.
Drank a Boost once I got to the race site around 7.

Packet pickup was very slow and this left me feeling rushed. The water temp was reportedly 68 so I decided to go back to the car and get my fullsuit.
Event warmup:

None.
Swim
  • 15m 55s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

I hate wetsuit races. I'm can't feel the water and I lose any advantage I have as a strong swimmer.

What would you do differently?:

Heat the lake 10 degrees and lose the wetsuits! lol!
Transition 1
  • 01m 18s
Comments:

The best wetsuit transition I've ever had -- by far! It just came right off. yay! I got smart and cut the legs off by a few inches and that made a huge difference. Unfortunately, all the time gained in removing the wetsuit was lost to a pebble in my left shoe.
What would you do differently?:

Clean my feet better before I put on my shoes.
Bike
  • 45m 50s
  • 14.5 miles
  • 18.98 mile/hr
Comments:

I got afbout a quarter mile out of t1 and I had to stop, lay down my bike and take of my shoe to get a pebble out of the ball of my foot. I tried to HTFU but it just hurt too much. I cussed under my breath (or was it out loud?) as about 6 racers passed me by. After 3 tries I finally got my shoe cleaned out and back on the road. I was determined to catch all those that passed me earlier and, by mile 2, I had (only 1 was in my AG). Unfortunately, the other girl in my AG that left t1 moments before me was long gone.

Other than that I had a pretty good ride.
What would you do differently?:

Clean my feet better before putting on my shoes.
Transition 2
  • 00m 43s
Run
  • 25m 44s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

The first mile was a long gradual uphill and it hurt. My legs felt like lead and I started stitching. I just kept pushing and thinking "stitches won't cause injury" and "no ones ever died from a stitch". The stitch finally subsided at the turnaround. Thank goodness that uphill as mile 1 was now an slight downhill at mile 3!

Really thought this run was much slower.
