Subject: Recommend any good books??
I was just curious as to if anyone has any recommendations on any good Triathlon books to read? I've got to take a 3 hr flight on Thursday morning and thought I might pick something up and do some "homework".  Anything about training, workouts, the sport in general, etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

Many consider "The Triathlete's Training Bible" by Friel to be almost the gosple when it comes to tri books.  I like it.....

Off-topic, but your thread title reminds me of that commercial in which the woman asks her friend if she's read any good books lately.

"...it's a companion to the Bible."

It might be too late but *I* would skip the training bible and instead buy the scientific training for triathletes

All the running books by Bob Glover are also good. Not specific to triathlon per-se, but very good books.

Well...I don't know if you are male or female, but I bought the Woman Triathlete and am finding it VERY helpful. There's also a 9 week training program in there for beginner sprint, intermediate sprint, olympic and ironman. I like it because you can grow and continue to use the same book for training plans and get more out of it every year.

I may be too late for you to get it for your plane ride, but if you're a woman you may consider it at some point :-)

I highly recommend "Heft on Wheels". More of a cycling book, but when a guy goes from over 300 lbs and chain smoking to a serious racer at age 40, it is inspirational.

Try "Becoming an Ironman".
It's not a training guide but a great read to get you fired up for the sport.

I am a book hound (or nerd as some might be tempted to say!)! I have purchased, read, and then sold soooo many tri books. My favorite books so far that I have decided to keep on my book shelf are:
Triathlon Magazine's Complete Triathlon Book (on my nightstand right now!)
Triathlon Magazine's Essential Week-by-week Training Guide
Joel Friel's The Triathlete's Training Bible
Joel Friel's Total Heartrate Training
Good luck and happy reading!
