Pre-race routine:

Ate a cliff bar and some water and drove to the event starting at 4 am.
Event warmup:

Setup transition, walked around and talked. Jumped in the water for a short swim.
Swim
  • 21m 55s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 20s / 100 yards
Transition 1
  • 03m 14s
Comments:

It would be nice to have a chair in transition. :)
Bike
  • 1h 18m 1s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.11 mile/hr
Comments:

Last year I didn't eat or drink enough. This year I corrected it with 1.5 scoops (approx) of perpetulum, 1 gu, and about 1 liter of water. I felt much stronger on the second lap and the run.
What would you do differently?:

I need to get my speed up.
Transition 2
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

This one was quick.
Run
  • 58m 45s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

I tried to push myself and could have gone a little faster but I didn't want to exhaust myself too early.
What would you do differently?:

I am going to work on the run!
Post race
Warm down:

Banana, water, orange, bagel, walking, stretching, talking. Tried to stretch and keep moving.

Event comments:

This is a great race in a cool location. It can be hot, sunny and windy but that is what the desert is all about. I like the fact that this race is low-key and you can pick up your packet race morning. I have 2 gripes this year. The second run aid station ran out of water! That blows for back of the packers like me. And last year they had really cool soaked icy towels to put on your head at the finish. Not this year.
