Hi,
My name is Carrie! I have wanted to do the triathalon in my hometown for YEARS! I just graduated from college and moved back home. Now I have no excuses to not run it! I've had kind of a crazy year. I broke up out of a serious relationship and then had to adjust to living at home again. It was all pretty hard at first! Now, I'm doing so well, but felt there was something missing. To me, I feel that training would be an awesome goal overall!

I just wanted to say hello to you all. Please say hi and offer any tips you may have for me!

Thanks a lot. I hope you all had a great holiday!
Carrie

Hi Carrie.  Welcome to BT.  Persevere with your training and don't try to do too much too fast.  Wish you luck in your first tri. Which one are you doing?

Hi Ken,
Thanks for the advice. My race is in my small town of New Baltimore, Michigan. It's a 1/2 mile swim, 13 mile bike, and 3.2 mile run! I'm very confident doing the events separately. My biggest concern is being able to run all three together without dying! I work out a lot, but I know I have a lot of conditioning to do!

I'm so excited about this! What races have you run and what are you preparing for!

Welcome aboard Carrie! Sorry to hear about your breakup but glad to hear that you are doing well.  This is the beginning of a whole new chapter in your life and you are quite right, "training is an awesome goal" and very very rewarding to boot!

The best tip I can offer you is to suggest that you consult your physician before beginning any kind of physical activity.  Once you get a clean bill of health from your doctor, pick out a training program, which will suit your needs from the BT home page.  Do ask lots and lots of questions.  Start each activity slowly and methodically, concentrating on technique rather than speed.  And, of course, enjoy yourself .... :-)

Michel

Welcome and enjoy every minute of your training. The transition from college student to full time responsible adult is hard enough without adding breaking up a relationship and moving back in with parents. The exercise and working out will help relieve the stress, plus it gives you time to yourself for a little while every day! Good luck

Good luck in your training! I would agree to make sure you don't train too much, too quickly. I did my first Sprint Tri two summers ago and it is addicting. And it was in my hometown, so that definitely makes it more exciting.

Hello Carrie!

Welcome to BT. Just keep in mind, your goal for your 1st race should be to finish. Speed will come with proper training. I'm sure you'll have a blast!
