Comments:

I started in the second start wave (8:00 pace and up). I tried to run smoothly and easily and this was reflected in very fast times, for me, in the first miles. The pace, the heat and poor hydration would catch up to me after the famous Torrey Pines hill. At least I never stopped running during the two major climbs. I felt very fast going down to La Jolla Shores and I really held back going down Prospect street so I wouldn't hurt myself.
What would you do differently?:

I might actually carry my own hydration for this race because it was so poorly planned as far aa water stations were concerned.
Post race
Warm down:

Warm down, are you joking me? I was trying not to over heat in the finishers area.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I only brought and took 2 Endurolyte capsules. Even though I didn't cramp I might of felt better if I had taken 2 more.

Event comments:

Challenging course and beautiful scenery but the organizers completely f*ed up the water station situation. It seemed like Chicago Marathon 2007 revisited. The whole week the weather reports pointed to a hot race day and yet the first aid station wasn't until mile 3 and the second at mile 5.5!!! I started with the 2nd wave and probably was one of the first of that wave to get to the first water station and they were not able to keep up with the number of runners. So a majority of runners after me had to wait in line for water, pour their own or dip their cups into water-filled trash cans! For a race that's been run for 27 years that is really disappointing.

Thanks Tom. See you and the rest of of the swim buddies at the Spring Sprint. Great job at IMAZ! I imagine the heat was 2x worse than it was today at La Jolla.

I was there, too. Not nearly as fast as you! Great race. It was messed up with the water. Thankful for the people with water hoses near the end-- saved me.
