Total Time = 1h 46m 46s
Overall Rank = 46/117
Age Group = 20-29
Age Group Rank = 4/12
Pre-race routine:

Drove to the Y to pick up my packet, went home, drank coffee, biked back to the Y. Set up my transition area, sat around for a little while.
Event warmup:

Biked about 5 miles to get to the Y.
Swim
  • 00m
  • 450 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

It was a warm day and the water felt great.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

There was no wetsuit to deal with so this was a very easy transition. I was glad I had flip-flops after the swim because I had to run across the hot asphalt parking lot.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 58m 30s
  • 17.9 miles
  • 18.36 mile/hr
Comments:

Everything went fine except for a scary moment involving a huge swarm of bees.
What would you do differently?:

Spend more time in aero. I'm still getting used to riding in aero at high speeds, especially when it's windy.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

My feet were sticking on the insoles of my running shoes. I should invest in some elastic laces, or take the time to put on socks.
What would you do differently?:

Put on socks. I got a nasty blister on top of my foot from not wearing any.
Run
  • 00m
  • 3.1 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

It was pretty warm and I was a bit dehydrated, so I backed off and ran at a comfortable pace.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more water. I skipped the first water stop and that was a mistake.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank water, ate orange slices, talked with other racers about the swarm of bees.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I am pretty satisfied with how I did in this race. I just need to train more to get faster.

Nice job at the race , I must have gone 10-15 mins later than you . It was hotter than ideal for me .

I thought it was a very well run race .  Luckily I missed the bees , where did you encounter them ?

I encountered the bees after the turnaround, about 1/4 mile or so before I reached the turnaround for the 12 mile course.  Scary!!!  And yes, it was definitely warm out there.
