jenniferrichmond - 2010-04-26 11:22 AM Hi all-

Just joined a crossfit and will have my first workout later this week.  I'm excited to get started.

Welcome to the "club"!  Let us know how your workout goes and be prepared for soreness.  When I was going to an introductory class, the coach spent about 5 minutes teaching me how to squat.  I wasn't sweaty or anything, but the next day I was sore from just learning how to squat!.

Hi guys-

I went through two introductory sessions (each 1.5 hours) where we spent lots of time learning the basic moves.  I've done alot of the lifts before, but it was good to get a refresher and get some form correction (bad habits build up fast).  There are some modifications I will do initially (some lifts will be substituted for more basic lifts).  The gym I'm attending basically has one person teach all of the classes, so he really gets to know the athletes.  I'm excited to try an officialy workout on Friday morning.  I will let you know how it goes!

Thanks lvthegame!  The last few workouts I've tried chalking vigorously, and it seems to help.  I guess maybe that's all I need to do.

I'm not doing tris right now...I am planning on a half mary in the fall, but that's it for the traditional Tri disciplines.  I did at least one tri a year for 4 or 5 years, kinda taking a break now, but I still like BT so I still log on .

Great!  I've been three times so far.  Wish I could go more, but hard with my travel schedule.  Last week did cleans for the first time in many many years (since college) and I'm loving it!!  I get excited to see what the WOD is going to be.  So far have been sore but not terribly.

I got my swim in last night and it felt pretty good (I was surprised), but I'm sore this morning.

Hey all!  I've been lurking on this thread, CF-ing for two months.

First, I did my first RX workout today, "Fight Gone Bad".  Yowza!!  I'll feel that tomorrow.

Second, I was wondering what any of you do about your wedding rings.  I never take mine off, I've already lost one ring (not wedding or engagement, thankfully) because I took it off "just for a second" and never saw it again.  But now, I've got a callus developing right under my ring especially for everything, even from doing deadlifts (which don't callus under any of my other fingers).

Any tips?

Thanks!

I never wear a ring while lifting.  I found grabbing heavy barbells/dumbells/kettlebells will cause it to dig into my finger and make it very uncomfortable.  Instead I take it off and hang it from my key ring, which is something easy to keep track of and something you have to have it you're going home after your workout.  Hard to drive or get into your house without keys!

Crossfit is awesome.. I have been doing it for a year and it has improved my whole training and my feeling of what fitness is. I am running, biking and sewimming less and doing better.   Not to mention that I feel great...    I love it so much that I put my money where my mouth is.. literally..   A couple of friends and I started our own affiliate..    No, I am not quitting my day Job, it pays the bills.   We have a running group and soon we will start a triathlon training group as well.    Check us out..  (facebook) or at http://www.sancarloscrossfit.com/

That is so awesome!!!  Good luck on the box!  Are you training for tri's using CFE then?

I have been trying to incorporate that into my program.   I am scheduled to get my CFE cert soon...  I am looking forward to it..   It has been fun so far..

hey kids.  getting bored with the run of the mill tri training so i'm starting up with cf and cfe.  the nearest cf gym is 20 minutes away in the opposite direction of where i work, so i'm going to be doing this on my own improvising in a small town iowa ymca.

going to ease into it, so i'll be buttercupping it for a while.  be gentle with me

Holy crap!!! I consider myself in really good shape but I did my first CF class this morning and it kicked my a$$!!!  In a good way.  I felt it afterwards and can definitely see how this will benefit my tri training.  Just fyi this is what we did:

Tabata

Rows
Thrusters
Box Jumps
Kettlebell swings

20s x 8

I didn't throw up but boy did I come close for my first.  I'm prolly gonna attend this class once a week.  Crossfit rocks!!

I went to the CFE certification this past weekend.  I learned a TON.  I'm super excited about it all and plan to start training for my first full marathon tomorrow.  WOOT!

When I get back stateside, I'm going to do the same thing.  I noticed on the CFE page they had certs for S/B/R and then like an overall CFE cert.  Any clarification on that?   How was the organization and setup?

Just curious~
