Wow, this weekend came and went too quickly.  I got in a fairly decent brick on Saturday, but really slacked the rest of the week.  I've got to get swimming  to catch up on that goal.

As for last week:
Swim 0
Bike 37.74 miles
Run 5.2 miles

Weight stayed the same

I just finished watching the women's triathlon. Wow! They did awesome! Bennett did great. I will watch the men's tomorrow online. I replayed the transitions to see what they did. It was a great race!

duffers - 2008-08-08 2:29 PM I need to buy my first wetsuit for my next tri.  Any suggestions?  where to buy? how to fit???? etc??

Where in this world do you live that it is still cold enough for a wetsuit???  Just wondering   Our season here in Arkansas is from about May til October, so I never really HAD to have one.    There are probably a ton of threads on here about the subject.

Okay, I will start by apologizing for my absence.  I was on vacation for a stretch without computer access and then I returned only to get slammed at work.  That will teach me to take a vacation.  As for the wetsuit question, I have used my 4 times since late June up here in the northeast and I am not alone.  Those not wearing them are the exception, espcially for the longer races.  Water temps in the races I did were between 68 - 71.  So need is one thing, but buoyancy is another.

Great to see everyone still training.  Some weeks are better than others.  I, for example, was able to run while on vacation, however, I did very little last week leading up to my 70.3 Timberman race yesterday.  Between recovering from IMUSA, vacation, work, etc. I was moving in the wrong direction for my race, but such is life.  I will update my race report later.  It was a beautiful day to race.

Three questions:  Has the existing challenge passed?  If so, what were the results?  John, do you think we should have another challenge through the end of September?

How is everyone???  Our thread has been a little bare lately.  I'm guessing it's because everyone is out training!

Carla - yep...out training that's my excuse! Not really!

Here are my results from last week...

 S: 2150.00 M 1h 05m
B: 45 miles 3h 08m 13s
R: 10.22 Mi  1h 43m 30s

I am getting ready for two races coming up. My A race is coming up. It is the local tri...short sprint, but I am so competitive I want to win. Last year I did, but I don't know if I'm in better shape or not.

School starts tomorrow for the kiddos! So maybe I'll have some time at night to get online. Between the olympics and kids staying up late I haven't been on email much at night.

Seems like everything but training...vacation, work, kids sports, etc.  I did squeeze in a race this past weekend though and that was great.  So far this week just recovery.  However, as of today, I am back at it.

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!  We are taking a mini vacation...just one night in a cabin in the mountians on the White River

Just signed up for my next 2 events also:  CATS Sprint Tri in Conway, AR and the Big Dam Bridge 100 (I'm only doing 32 miles).  You should google the Big Dam Bridge.  It's impressive!

Good for you for signing up.  A race on the calendar always seems to motivate me.  Train hard and have fun!!!  How is everyone else doing?  Seems rather quiet as of late.

Seems to me that most folks are or have wrapped up their tri season and the training aspect is starting to take a back seat.  It is important to keep in mind that the off season is just as important as the race season.  It is a good time to work on your weaknesses, or if you are like me and generally weak all over, it is a good time to keep working hard and progressing.  The best advice that someone gave to me was this...everyone works hard DURING the season.  Those that make the most progress from year to year work hard in the off season.  Makes sense.  Enjoy and train hard!!

I'm planning on doing a tri in the ocean this sunday. The current water temp is 66.  Is that too cold to wear an sleeveless wetsuit.  I want to go sleeveless as this is my first wetsuit wear and don't want to feel to constricted?

It'll be cool when you first get in, but I think you will be very comfortable in sleeveless.

On another note, my tri was cancelled this weekend.  Ike came thru Arkansas as a tropical storm...I guess they didn't think that was very good tri weather.  They are hoping to reschedule...I so hope they do!  My 4th and last is in October, and I am looking forward to it also.  FINALLY got a rack for my new car, so I can get to riding at least a few days per week again.  Also found a group of ladies that rides on Saturday mornings.  Going to try that out this next weekend.

Hope everyone is doing well!

You should be fine once you get moving.  Best of luck on the race!
