I saw some people wanting to do a OWS on Friday before Gulf Coast, so I thought I'd start a new thread.   We'll be getting into town on Thursday late, so I'd like to get a short swim & spin in.  What time would people want to meet up?  Maybe late morning, like 10-11am?

Also, we most likely won't make dinner with everyone, but we could include dinner plans in this post too....

Best place to meet up is the pavillion at the Boardwalk Hotel. It's where the pre-race meeting will be held, and the post race food / recovery area.

I definitely want to do it and any time works well. I suggest 2 or 3 pm. Once you figure that all out, I will update the first post with the information.

We went to this really good restaurant last year with Elena and her kin, can't remember the name but it was over by the marina across the bridge.....

I would suggest an early ocean swim to get acclimated to the morning water temps. as far as the ride, we could ride the run course and get a nice 10-12 mile ride in.

There is a great seafood dive past the resorts that has awesome food and cheap beer...I'll get the name of the place. and post it today.

If I am not mistaken, there is a free Pasta Dinner at the host hotel on Friday Night. That's definitely all the dinner I need, and free aka included, is the Magic word.

There has been in years past. I just can't say for sure about this year.

Alright, Y'all. It's race week. I will suggest that we meet up at the swim course start on Friday morning at 9am (rather than 10); that way, can get a quick swim in and then ride the run course down through the state park and still be back in time for packet pick up @ noon.

There is a pre-race pasta dinner on Saturday night (5:30pm); beachside at the Boardwalk.

I noticed in the email too that they said that the registration starts at 9:00 on Friday, but I checked the website and the event schedule there still says registration (package pickup) is from 12-9 on Friday.  If everything is the same as it has been for the past 2 years, then my guess is that you can't really register until noon.  Of course, I'd be happy if anyone wanted to write the RD and find out for sure.  I sure would like to get my package early!

Also, I'm definitely interested in swimming, but am thinking that I will be out there more in the 6:30 - 7:00 am range because I want to really get a feel for what the sun is like at the actual time that we are going to be taking off.  The past two years, I did a practice swim later and ended up with unexpected sun glare.  You would think I would learn.

As my group will be arriving late on Thursday night, I think I will opt out of an early swim. We'll still be swimming at 9am (although the point of race conditions swim is smart!) and then riding the running course.

A few of us are planning to swim at 7am at the race start.  We'll be getting there a little before 7am..not sure how to pick us out, but we'll be a group of at least 3 girls, 2 guys.  I have a sleeveless Zoot wetsuit with a small tribal looking design on the chest.  Hopefully we'll see you there!  Courtney

Yes, 7am.  At least that's Group 1...for those that want to swim early.  I do plan to ride also, but I'm not sure at this point if it'll be immed. after the swim..or if we'll go to our condo first.
