I'm from Michigan and an coming to the Tempe area next week. I have a couple days I plan to do some runs and would like to get on some trails. I was just curious if anyone had any favorite areas/trails in mind they might want to pass along.

You will hear form many that along the canal is good - but depending on when you are here, a group of us meet at Saguaro lake and do an OWS followed by a hill run - Saguaro Man tri was last week so I am sure many of the group may know the trail run they did!

I have a bunch of detailed trail maps for South Mountain that I built.

The are here.

Don't expect a lot of trees.

Hey Jot, thanks for the maps! I run at South Mountain when I can... I work literally two minutes from the 48th St entrance.

I miss south mountain. Used to work 100yards from the access at 46th st.

That's the only thing I miss about that job.

Loads of good trail runs.
  • Papago - right by Tempe

  • Phoenix Mountain Preserve/Squaw (now Piestewa) Peak - Plethora of trails

  • Saguaro Lake area - Xterra run & many others

  • South Mountain (as previously mentioned) - Plethora of trails

  • Lost Dutchman (one of my favorites)
