Comments: It was fabulous having the tailwind for the beginning and the end of the course. The middle 30 miles had a strong crosswind which made it difficult. The road was smooth for the first 50 miles, then 25 miles of chip seal which was very hard on the body! There were plenty of rest stops, and the last leg into town was beautifully smooth with the wind at our backs. Post race
Warm down: lots of stretching and walking What limited your ability to perform faster: more training and need to lose weight Event comments: The post-race party was a bit over-hyped. It was nice to relax in the shade with some cold water and then cold beer, and having the shower option was a big bonus. But the food line was way too long and there wasn't enough to go around, really. The band was fine, but there wasn't much else. It was nice to hang out for a while, but that was it.
