Subject: A question for fellow Athenas about trisuits.
I was thinking about getting the Danskin trisuit in XL. I'm about a 14 (maybe a 12 on top), definitely pear-shaped, and tall (5'10"). Most of my length is in my torso and not my legs.

Has anyone worn one? How do they fit? I'm not super concerned about boobie support as I'm part of the tiny booblette club.

I'd like to stay under $100 for a trisuit if possible. I used to wear De Soto but now they've discontinued their XL size.

Previously I've worn tri tops and bottoms but I'm sick of my belly popping out mid-race. I'm hoping a trisuit will help stop that.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks so much!

I happen to have one of those trisuits in that exact size!  I got it last year at the expo before the race - its pretty good.  It was $60 at the expo - I think they were $80 or something on line. I don't know what they are now.  I am 5"4" and its a little bit long in the torso for me but otherwise a pretty good fit.  There's a "bra" in there which doesn't really do much but if you don't have to worry about it - its perfect for you.  I need to wear a sports bra all the time - no way around it for me.  I also have an Orca which I like much better - its a size 12-14 and awesome.   The only problem with that one is the zipper is in the back and its not that easy to take on and off by myself if I have to go pee in the middle of a race - for a sprint it's perfect.

OK good. I was thinking about the Orca one too. I pretty much stick to sprints and Olys so I think the zipper would be ok. I think it's on sale at Sports Basement.

Thanks for your input!

Danskins are cut fairly large compared to all other tri suits I've encountered. They are pretty close to normal sizing. I'm wearing a L one right now and it's only the smallest bit snug on me, and I'm also a size 14, so XL should be fine giving you extra room for your height. Danskin is great about returns too.

I have this trisuit.  I'm 6' tall and about a size 12 and the large fits me just fine. :D

I completed my first tri using this suit and it was perfect. I bought last year's model on line and it was $59. If you have an REI near you stop over as they have them in stock. I bought an xl and it was fine.... although zipping it was tough for me as I am DD. Overall... it is a great suit for the $, I have actually worn it for runs and bikes.

I have the same in XL and am tall (5'9) and about your size although large on top.  You can see it in action in my album, Lake Sammamish Tri.  My javelin trisuit is way less supportive so I have to wear extra support besides a sport bra. Sigh.  May not race much in it due to that, as the Danskin is very snug and comfy.

I got my suit today and I thought maybe I should report back. I was pretty surprised at how well it fits since I have a hard time getting regular clothes to fit. I'm a bit concerned about the top being too loose and letting water in. I will try it out with and without my tri bra and see if that helps. I'll probably wear my wetsuit this season anyway since it seems like summer is never going to arrive in Seattle. (wwwwahhhh)

I thought some (dorky) pictures would be nice. I always like to see how a "real" triathlete looks in stuff rather than a model.

The blue one is nice. Looks great! Mine has a lot more rolls.

I just have the plain black, but I think I need to get a second one since I almost exclusively swim in the tri-suit anymore. Just can't decide on which size.

I'm thinking of doing the Lake Sammamish tri this year. I haven't done that one yet.

Instead of having rolls I have one giant butt. I suppose it works out kind of handy as a bit of extra flotation during the swim and padding on the bike.

I was quite surprised how smooth mine was on. That being said... the thin tank straps made my arms look huge!! I didn't care for the way my upper body looked which is odd...usually it is my lower body that puts me over the edge when I see photos.

Regardless... great suit!! I like the blue.

I've been looking at this suit too!  It's so good to see REAL people that have bought it, worn it and given an opinion on it.
